Glenn McGrath targets Michael Vaughan

Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath says plans to target Michael Vaughan during the upcoming Ashes series after the English opener recently taunted him.

At the start of each season, McGrath has made a point of publicly identifying the opposition batsman he believes poses the biggest danger to Australia.

McGrath then takes personal responsibility for getting that batsman out as many times as possible over the summer -- a contest he has invariably won over the years.

Some of his more famous victims were former English captain Michael Atherton, who he dismissed 18 times in Tests, and ex-West Indian skipper Brian Lara, whose scalp he claimed 13 times.

Vaughan, England's form batsman over the past year, invited trouble when he asked the lanky Australian paceman to choose him this season and McGrath says he is happy to comply.

"He's obviously their form player if you look at the last season," McGrath told reporters after arriving home from Australia's triumphant 3-0 series win over Pakistan.

"I have had quite a lot of success in the past against guys I want to target."

McGrath, one of just eight players to capture 400 Test wickets, taunted Vaughan by saying he had a poor record against Australia.

He said he still had not bowled to Vaughan at Test level but played against him twice on last year's tour of England and was not troubled by him.

"One was for Worcester and I bowled one ball to him there and he hit me up in the air and was caught," McGrath recalled.

"The other one I didn't get a chance to bowl to him because Jason (Gillespie) knocked him over for a duck.

"He hasn't really got the form on the board against Australia, so we'll see how he goes."
