Ganguly had expected to
win on day 4

Skipper Carl Hooper is a man with rare pride. After losing another overseas Test inside four days, he said he and his Indian counterpart are in the same boat.

"If Sourav Ganguly was in the West Indies right now, you would have directed the same question to him," said Hooper, commenting on the poor overseas record of the West Indies.

Admitting that his team played poorly in the first Test against India, Hooper felt Sehwag's knock early on in the Test set the course for the rest of the match.

He said his bowlers bowled well, but the wicket was more suited to spin bowling.

"It was a good Test wicket. If we had put up a decent total on the board things might have turned for us.

"We can only remain positive and hope that we bat better for the rest of the series. Cricket is a funny game. Let's see how the rest of the Tests go," he added.

Ganguly, after leading his side to a record 12th Test victory, confessed that he had expected to win on the fourth day itself.

"Zaheer Khan's spell (that fetched four wickets) on the slow wicket was the key to the game. Sanjay Bangar also bowled a crucial six-over spell yesterday and he has provided us with the comfort of a fifth bowler in Tests."

Dismissing the importance of winning the toss, Ganguly said his team played well on all four days of the Test and that alone is what matters to win Test matches.

The man of the moment though was Harbhajan Singh, who picked seven West Indian wickets in the second innings to wrap the game for India.

"We got the crucial wickets of Carl Hooper and Ramnaresh Sarwan early. I found my rhythm early and that helped extract turn and bounce off the wicket," he opined.

Harbhajan picked out young wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel for his exemplary work behind the wickets, saying he is a great find for India.
