Three-tier security ring thrown for fourth ODI

To prevent the unruly crowd behaviour which marred the first three matches of the India- West Indies one-day series, a 'three-tier security ring' would be thrown around the Motera stadium in Ahmedabad, including stationing of commandos near the spectators' stands, during the fourth one-dayer tomorrow.

The security arrangements for the match were finalised at a meeting comprising top police officials and Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) officials.

Deputy Inspector General police (Gandhinagar range) Promod Kumar said, "all vehicles and each spectator would be checked at least thrice before entering the stadium, including metal detector and physical frisking. At least 10 video cameras would be installed to monitor behaviour."

An IPS officer would be present at each of the stands and commandos would be stationed near the spectators stand to prevent any untoward incident, he said.

"For the safety of all, we are preventing spectators from carrying even water bottles and all arrangements for water and food would be made at the venue itself," GCA president Narhari Amin said.
