Ganguly blames bowlers
for defeat

India skipper Sourav Ganguly once again criticised his bowlers for their below-par performance, which resulted in India's second consecutive defeat to the West Indies in the seven-match one-day series, in Nagpur, on Saturday.

Ganguly, who had blamed his spinners for the four-wicket defeat in the first one-dayer at Jamshedpur, was, however, more general in his criticism today.

"We did go haywire in the last 3-4 overs that we batted. But still I thought 279 was a good total to defend," he said after the seven-wicket defeat.

"But we never looked like we were in the game at any stage. We did not bowl well enough; we will have to bowl better next time," he added.

Giving due credit to the visitors for the comprehensive victory, Ganguly said: "They looked the hungrier side and were more desperate to win."

The Indian skipper, however, expressed the hope that the team will bounce back in the series, saying: "We've got to learn from our mistakes and play better cricket next time."

Carl Hooper said it was important for the team to carry on from their victory in Jamshedpur. Expressing satisfaction with the improved fielding of his side, he said: "We did well to restrict the Indians in the last 3-4 overs as they threatened to score in the excess of 300 runs."

Though the West Indies are 2-0 up in the series, he hastened to add that there is no room for complacency. "We have still five more games to play."
