Mohandas Menon

3rd ODI at Barbados

** Tinu Yohannan became the 145th player to appear in LOIs for India.

** Yohannan's 3-33 was the fourth best figures by an Indian bowler on debut. Only off-spinner Noel David (3-21 v West Indies at Port of Spain, 27-4-1997), pace bowler Subroto Banerjee (3-30 v West Indies at Perth, 6-12-1991) and left-arm spinner Dilip Doshi (3-31 v Australia at Melbourne, 6-12-1980) have better bowling figures than Yohannan.

** However Yohannan's figures are the best by an Indian bowler at this venue bettering Kapil Dev's 2-30 on 7-3-1989.

** Ajit Agarkar has now taken his tally of wickets to 145 in 93 matches. Only Pakistani Saqlain Mushtaq (182 wickets), South African Allan Donald (155), Pakistani Waqar Younis (152) and Australian Shane Warne (149) have taken more wickets than Agarkar after playing 93 LOI matches. Englishman Darren Gough also had 145 wickets after his 93rd match. Among Indian bowlers Javagal Srinath had 130 wickets after his 93rd match.

** Carl Hooper's unbeaten 76 was his second successive unbeaten 50-plus score. He had made an unbeaten 112 against Pakistan at Sharjah on 17-2-2002.

** In this match India were able to claim all ten West Indian wickets. In the last match on 3-5-1997 between the two sides at this same ground, the home side had made 200 runs without losing a wicket!

** The 68 run partnership between Sourav Ganguly and Dinesh Mongia was the best for the second wicket at this venue by a visiting team bettering the previous best of 62 between Englishmen Nick Knight and Graeme Hick on 29-3-1998.

** Hooper's catch of Ganguly was his 101st of his career in 206 matches. He now joins Viv Richards to become the West Indian fielder with maximum catches in LOIs. Richards also has 101 catches in 187 matches. Hooper now need only one more catch to better Richards.

** The last occasion Sachin Tendulkar did not open the Indian innings was against Australia at Melbourne on 12-1-2000. He went in at number four.

** This was India's first ever win over the home team at this ground. Incidentally, India had not won any of its eight Test matches or its earlier two LOI matches at this venue. Moreover the Indian team has never won any of its tour games against the Barbados side at Bridgetown since 1953.

** The defeat was West Indies' third in as many matches at this ground. It had earlier lost to Pakistan (by 17 runs on 19-4-2000) and South Africa (by 7 wickets on 9-5-2001).

** This was India's 73rd win while batting second in LOIs. It was its seventh such win over West Indies. For the record, India has lost 126 matches while batting second.

** Ganguly has now led his team in 32 winning matches, which is one more than what he has lost (31) while captaining the side.

** Dinesh Mongia (74) claimed his second man of the match award of his career in his 16th match. He had claimed his first in his last match against Zimbabwe at Guwahati on 19-3-2002 - he had then scored an unbeaten 159!
