NZ cancels Pak tour after Karachi blast

New Zealand has cancelled the rest of its ongoing tour of Pakistan following a fatal bomb explosion in Karachi, venue for the second Test against Pakistan scheduled to start on Wednesday.

New Zealand Cricket chief Martin Sneddon said the safety of his players was paramount and that the Pakistan Cricket Board accepted New Zealand's decision to withdraw.

Sneedon told a news conference here that none of the players was injured in the blast which killed at least 10 foreigners travelling on a hotel bus in Karachi.

New Zealand had confirmed this trip to replace an earlier tour that was cancelled due to security fears over the war in Afghanistan and tension between Pakistan and India.
