It's time to look back on 2002 and evaluate the players who made a difference to their team's fortunes. India won two overseas Tests after 16 long years, one each in the West Indies and England, though an overseas series win continued to remain elusive. Rahul Dravid graduated from being a good player to marking himself for greatness. Sachin Tendulkar ended the year as the highest run-getter in Tests though young guns Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, and Mohammad Kaif overshadowed his performance in the abridged version of the game. Zaheer Khan ended the year as the top wicket-taking paceman while Shaun Pollock took the honours in the one-day version with 54 wickets. Leg-spinner Shane Warne baffled batsmen to be the top-wicket taker in Tests while Ricky Ponting excelled in both versions of the game. Pakistan's Yousuf Youhana with five centuries topped the run-getters' list for one-dayers while Jacques Kallis established himself as the finest all-rounder of the year yet again in the absence of New Zealand's Chris Cairns. Which of these, in your view, qualifies for the title of Rediff Cricketer of the Year 2002? Do click on the radio button against your choice and scroll below to submit your vote.
