Question: In the 4th ODI between India & West Indies, 5 of the W.Indian bowlers conceded more than 60 runs in the match off their quota of overs. Is this a record or what? Is there a comparable record that you would like to enlighten us with?

Answer1: This is a record. Though, there have been several other cases of four bowlers conceding 60+ runs in an ODI innings.


Name: Mohan Gopalakrishnan
Question: Can you tell me how many Indians who have played 20 or more Tests have not scored a duck in Test cricket?

Answer2: The distinction goes to Brijesh Patel who after playing in 21 Tests has never registered a duck. Incidentally only 68 Indian players have appeared in 20 or more Tests.

Question: Which batting pair have together scored the maximum runs in the last over [50th over] in an ODI.

Answer3: Allan Lamb scored 18 runs off the 50th over from Australian Bruce Reid at Sydney on 22-1-1987 to win the match for England with one ball to spare. This is the maximum number of runs scored in the last over by any team to win a ODI match.

Question: I would want to know the list of bowlers who on maximum occasions have taken 2 or more wickets in an over. I request you a top 10 list of such bowlers in both formats of the game.

Answer 5: It is not possible to list such bowlers. For this record, we need to check the scoresheets of every single international match, which would not be possible.

Question: Where did cricket originate from?

Answer6: There are different theories in respect to the origins of cricket. It is said no one really invented cricket. Like almost everything else cricket was evolved. The first probable reference to the game appears some time during the 15th century. Recently a Frenchman has claimed that cricket was played in France much before it began in Britain.

Question: Who used the helmet as a batsman in Tests. Also give me details about the match and the year.

Answer7: Australian Graeme Yallop first used the helmet against the West Indies at Brigdetown in March 1978.

Question: Can you please tell me what is Ganguly's record against left-arm spinners (runs scored, at what rate, and how often he has got out to a left-arm spinner)? I am particularly interested in ODI's, with any other info being a bonus.

Answer8: Ganguly has been dismissed by six left arm slow bowlers on 8 occasions in Test matches.
They are: Zimbabwe's Ray Price & Grant Flower (twice each) and New Zealand's Daniel Vettori, Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya, South Africans Niky Boje & Paul Adams are the left arm slow bowlers have claimed his wicket.

In ODIs, Ganguly has been dismissed by nine left arm slow bowlers on 13 occasions.
They are:
England's Ashley Giles (3 times),
New Zealand's Daniel Vettori (twice),
Zimbabwe's Dirk Viljoen (twice),
Pakistan's Mohammad Hussain & Aamir Sohail, Australian Michael Bevan and South African Niky Boje, Zimbabwean Grant Flower, Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya - all once each - are the others to claim Ganguly's wickets in ODIs.

Answer10: Other than Adam Gilchrist, Rahul Dravid and Andy Flower, England's Alec Stewart and South Africa's Mark Boucher would also fall into this category.
