Wisden 20:20 - Too shortRob Smyth
India vs England, 2nd Test, day 1, Trent Bridge England may have successfully bottled up Sachin Tendulkar on the off side once again, but they couldn’t keep his doppelganger Virender Sehwag in check as he carved and drove his way to 106 at Trent Bridge.
On a soft wicket that was offering plenty of sideways movement, England bowled too short to Sehwag. Over half of their deliveries to him were short of a length (98 out of 183), with Harmison the biggest culprit. He bowled 51 balls to Sehwag, and 33 of them (or 65%) were in his half of the pitch. This was Sehwag’s second Test hundred to go with three half-centuries - and he’s made them all in the first innings. Sehwag was also out bowled again; that’s five in nine Test innings, including all three in this series. If he stops throwing his wicket away, he could be a seriously good player: he's already averaging 58 from seven Tests.
