No decision on affiliation to new states

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's special general body meeting on Thursday could not come to any decision on granting affiliation to three new states -- Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttaranchal -- following a restrain order from the Tamil Nadu high court, BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya informed.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dalmiya said the matter became subjudice following the order from the court, which restrained the board from discussing the agenda during the meeting.

"Netaji Cricket Club, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, filed a civil suit yesterday in the court, asking for a stay on discussion of the agenda. We are consulting our lawyers and we will take action accordingly within the next four weeks," Dalmiya said.

"In order to maintain status quo we did not discuss anything officially. We will be sending our papers to the lawyers before the September 4 deadline. But, as for now, one has to respect the judiciary," he added.

On the proposal to shift the BCCI office from the Brabourne stadium, in Mumbai, he said: "It is not that we are not happy with the present office but the place is not sufficient. Hence, we are looking out for a bigger place."
