Dravid in pain but will play against SA

Indian batsman Rahul Dravid flew to Cape Town for a scan on a nagging shoulder pain, but will play in the Test series against South Africa that starts in Bloemfontein Friday.
Indian team manager M.K. Bhargava said here that regardless of the outcome of the scan to be done on Dravid, he would be playing in the series.
Dravid proved himself in the triangular series with South Africa and Kenya here that ended last week. Despite valiant efforts by captain Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and Dravid, India lost to South Africa in the final.
Indian coach John Wright said Dravid had been sent to Cape Town Monday for the scan in order to assess the damage to his shoulder and manage it without having to resort to surgery. Dravid has been plagued by pain in his right shoulder for the past four months.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Indian team Tuesday started a warm-up Test game against the Cricket Board President's XI in the huge Indian township of Chatsworth, south of Durban. The game was delayed by a day because heavy rains had rendered the pitch unsuitable.
India will play three Tests in South Africa over the next month.
