Rumesh Ratnayake Lanka's new manager

Former Test pace bowler Rumesh Ratnayake has been appointed Sri Lanka's new administrative team manager, cricket board officials said on Wednesday.

The decision was taken after Ajit Jayasekara, a commodore in the Sri Lankan air force, asked to be relieved of the cricket manager's job following a suicide attack by Tamil Tigers rebels at Colombo's international airport on Tuesday that left 20 dead.

"We have accepted Mr Jayasekara's request and have appointed Rumesh Ratnayake as the new manager," a Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka official said.

He did not specify the time period of Ratnayake's appointment.

Sri Lanka are currently playing a triangular one-day series with India and New Zealand, after which India will stay on for a three-Test series.
