Chopra 'exonerated'

Nikhil Chopra was on Thursday exonerated of charges of involvement in the match-fixing scandal, according to sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The off-spinner, who was earlier given a clean chit by the Central Bureau of Investigation in its report on match-fixing, appeared before the BCCI's disciplinary committee, which, the sources said, "exonerated" him after going through the internal inquiry report submitted by its watchdog K Madhavan and hearing his explanation.

The committee also heard former BCCI and Punjab Cricket Association president I S Bindra, who was asked to explain his 'outbursts' against the working of the board.

The committee's report on Bindra's hearing, it is believed, will be placed before the BCCI general body.
