Saeed Anwar's World Record - Back to Back hundreds

Saeed Anwar created a world record for registering back to back hundreds on three occasions, excluding his three in a row. In the ICC Trophy, against Sri Lanka, Saeed Anwar had made 105 not out on 08.10.00 and followed it up with another three figure knock of 104 against New Zealand. The three occasions, when Saeed Anwar had scored back to back hundreds are as under :

Saeed Anwar's feat provided the 24th instance of back to back hundreds in One day games. At the end of the Mini World Cup, Saurav Ganguly of India joined the select band to provide the 25th instance of back to back hundreds.

Roy Dias of Sri Lanka was the first batsman to achieve the distinction, when he scored 102 against India on 15.09.82 and 121 at Bangalore on 26.09.82 on Sri Lanka's tour of India in 1982-83.

Mark Waugh of Australia was the first batsman to earn the distinction of registering back to back hundreds in World Cup Games. He achieved the feat in the 1995-96 World Cup games jointly held in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Rahul Dravid of India and Saeed Anwar of Pakistan emulated Mark Waugh in the 1999 World Cup games held in England.

Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar hold the distinction of scoring three consecutive hundreds in One day Games. Alec Stewert of England came very close in emulating these two Pakistani batsmen, when he made 97 against Zimbabwe on 22.07.00, after his 101 against Zimbabwe at Edgbaston on 18.07.00 and 100* against West Indies at Nottingham on 20.07.00.

Saeed Anwar of Pakistan holds the world record for back to back hundreds By achieving the feat on four separate occasions, which includes one such feat in three matches on trot.
