Kapil, Wadekar summoned

Former Indian skippers Kapil Dev and Ajit Wadekar have been summoned to appear before cricket board's Anti-Corruption Commissioner, K Madhavan on January 6 and 7 respectively at the Delhi District Association office at Firoz Shah Kotla grounds.

Stating this Madhavan, who is here in connection with the release of his book 'CBI Diary Kurippukal' told reporters that after meeting the two, he would submit his report to the BCCI by Jan 31.Based on their statements, he would decide whether or not to issue summons to other cricketers.

Madhavan said he had submitted his report regarding Nikhil Chopra, against whom allegations of match fixing had been raised, to the BCCI President, A C Muthiah on Dec 27. Asked if he had given a clean chit to Chopra, Madhavan, refused to divulge any details said it was upto the BCCI to give out with the details

Asked if there was any pressure on him to give a clean chit to Jadeja, Madhavan, said 'not on me'. 'Jadeja has said that he had been wrongly implicated , but i feel i have got enough evidence'.

He said though former wicket keeper, Nayan Mongia and the Firoz Shah Kotla grounds man had been found guilty of match fixing by CBI, he had given them a clean chit.

"My investigations were a continuous process" said Madhavan, adding in future if any allegations of corruption in cricket crops up, he would look into it.

Madhavan said he had submitted three reports already to the BCCI. While the first report, dealing with former skipper, Mohammad Azarhuddin and Jadeja, were submitted on nov 25, a supplimentary report was filed on nov 27 regarding the observations about BCCI in the CBI report. The third report was filed about Nikil Chopra on dec 27.

There is no sufficient evidence against cricketers to prosecute them in a court of law. However, BCCI could initiate departmental action against them, he added.
