Wipro ties up with Siebel Systems

Email this story to a friend. Wipro Infotech's Enterprise Resources Planning Division has tied up with Siebel Systems Inc of the US to offer 'enterprise relationship management' systems that close the loop among sales, marketing and customer services.

As a Siebel consulting partner, Wipro will start a Siebel Competency Centre in Bangalore and offer Siebel consulting and implementation services across the United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific and in India.

"The Siebel relationship will complete the spectrum of enterprise application services from Wipro to the growing information technology services market worldwide," said Ushasri T S, vice-president, Wipro Infotech ERP Division.

"This software solution will allow us to add value while implementing and maintaining IT services for our global customers," he added.

The $280 million, San Mateo, California based, five-year-old Siebel Systems is the world's largest supplier of enterprise relationship management systems.

ERM facilitates organisations or third-party resellers to focus on increasing sales, marketing and customer service effectiveness in field sales, telesales, telemarketing, call centres and in other service offerings.

Siebel's software combines a standards based open architecture technology with new and emerging technologies to enable exceptional scalability, configurability, functionality and performance, a company statement claimed.

The worldwide IT services market is likely to grow from $326 billion in 1997 to $630 billion in 2002. The ERP market is maturing with applications such as customer relationship management, supply chain management and electronic commerce being bundled with traditional ERP applications.

The ERP software market in India is growing significantly with heightened awareness about the benefits of integrated enterprise-wide IT systems.

As per a survey conducted by International Data Corporation, the projected market size for IT services in India is Rs 8,000 million in 1999-2000.

Wipro Infotech is a part of the Rs 18.3 billion diversified and integrated Wipro Corporation operating in services, technology products and consumer products.
