IBC Governor General Suresh Kumar has been quoted as saying that it would be an attempt to showcase the opportunities available for Indian entrepreneurs to penetrate not only the Gulf market but also Europe and America.

The fair would also help in marketing Indian products and services in the region.

The National Association of Software and Service Companies and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry are supporting the fair.

Kumar said about 60 companies and computer professionals have already confirmed their participation in the fair. "We would like to limit the number of people and companies taking part in the fair so that concrete work can be achieved,'' he added.

The fair is likely to be attended by officials of multinational companies based in the Gulf, state owned public sector companies and officials from the services sectors including banks, insurance and hotels.

It is to focus on investment in the duty-free zones in the area, particularly for setting up software technology parks, information technology planning in the UAE, enterprise resource planning implementation and opportunities offered by the Internet.

The IBC, which is licensed by Dubai's Department of Economic Development, principally focuses on bringing together Indian businessmen and professionals with their counterparts in the Gulf region for the mutual benefit of the two regions.

Kumar said the Software Fair is just one of the several attempts being made by the IBC to sensitise people and decision makers in the Gulf region about the opportunities that exist for bolstering bilateral trade.
