Questions Vishwajit Prithvijit Singh didn't answer

Jaichand (Wed Feb 11 1998 7:27 IST)
Hi Mr Singh, sir why is Soniaji not contesting the elections? And sir what is the reason that she is campaigning while not contesting? Isn't that hurting the validity of Soniaji as the symbol of the Congress? Or was this part of the plan?

Homer (Wed Feb 11 1998 7:29 IST)
Hello Mr Singh its an honour to be able to talk to you. Sir, suppose you were with the BJP, how would you advise them to go about winning the elections?? What would be the strategy you would work out from them? And what are the current flaws in their strategy?

Madhavji (Wed Feb 11 1998 7:32 IST)
Hello, Mr Singh. Sir, do you really think the Congress will come to power in this election? Why? There is a big anti-Congress wave with a leader like Sitaram Kesri as your president. If the Congresss fails who is to be blamed?

Jasmeet (Wed Feb 11 1998 7:40 IST)
Hi Vishwajitji how are you?:-) Are you pleased with the pre-election mood of the people? There is a major anti Congress wave all over the country. How do you think that the presence of Sonia Gandhi will help eradicate the ill the Congress rule has brought about, especially with the Congress other throwing two governments in a row just so that 800 crore rupees can be spent on elections.

What promises have you made? A stable government? Sir, stop over throwing them and our nation will still have a chance. How do you react to the criticism meted to the Congress? Do you admit to your mistakes?

Mayawati (Wed Feb 11 1998 7:53 IST)
Mr Singh what does politics mean to you?

narsimha Rao (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:2 IST)
Hi Mr Singh, How your party is treating you after Narsimha Rao

Gulwantibai Mehta (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:5 IST)
Namaste sir, how many of those who come to Soniaji's meetings do you think will actually vote for the congress?

Mehboob Sultan (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:6 IST)
Hello Singhji do you think it is fair for the Congress party to portray her for garnering votes, without actually announcing that she will be the PM?

Congresswallah (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:7 IST)
Singhji Sardar Namaste

narsimha Rao (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:8 IST)
Mr Singh, Why do you work with Sonia Gandhi. Don't you have any capable leader in the Congress ???

Congresswallah (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:13 IST)
Singhji those who vote for congress after her campaign began, will do so under the impression that she will become pm. in case sonia does not, isn't it fooling these voters?

Gooli (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:15 IST)
Sir can you tell us how you came to be associated with the Congress party?

Makrand (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:16 IST)
Hi what is your personal opinion of narasimha rao not being given a ticket to contest the elections?

Manmohan Gandhi (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:16 IST)
Sir surely, under the cabinet system, the union council exercises collective responsibility. how can you blame the pm alone?

Vittaldas (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:18 IST)
Mr Singh, Sonia Gandhi has "expressed regret" at operation Bluestar. Can you tell us on what basis is an ordinary citizen apologising for what was a decision of the government of India?

Jay Varghese (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:19 IST)
Hi Mr Singh how are you?:-) What are the Gandhi family's plans? Do you personally see Sonia ever becoming PM? or Priyanka or Rahul?

Wishy washy (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:21 IST)
Mr Singh do you find it normal that the Congress, which fought foreign dominance over the country, is today turning to a foreign-born for its survival?

Wishy washy (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:24 IST)
Mr Singh do you think Mahatma Gandhi would have approved of an Italian-born leading the Congress campaign?

Malik (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:26 IST)
Hi Mr Singh can you throw some light on Rahul Gandhi? is he the playboy that the media is portraying him to be? does he really have a Colombian girlfriend?

Aakriti (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:27 IST)
Although I don't accept the contention of some parties that SoniaG is a foreigner"....does SoniaG really understand Indian problems as she has mostly seen India thru the eyes of press or the "Intermediaries" like say V. George....the pictures portrayed by such people tend to be distorted...like to flatter her..they can say that India has made lot of progress under the rule of Indira & Rajiv...that's what i'm afraid of...she may be having a distorted picture 'bt the real problems of India..the real problem is not communalism or instability..they r population explosion...illiteracy....stagnation of physical infrastructure....how do u answer this ?

Rahul (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:28 IST)
Mr Singh the oddball in the whole Sonia Gandhi obviously is BOB Wadhera. what is his locus standi, apart from that he is the damaad of the first family, that he is attending Congress rallies, and is seated on the dais?

narsimha Rao (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:28 IST)
Mr VPS, Sonia said that Rajiv would have put himself in front of Babri to protect it ( We all know about Rajiv, He might have gone to Lakshadweep with Quatrochhi at that time). But why didn't she do the same thing. Do you want us to Kiss Feet of a lady (like you Congresmen ) Just because she is saying her husband was like this and that. Ask her to tell us who she is and what she is doing for us ???

BOFORS (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:29 IST)
Singh sahab do you think Ottavio Quattrochhi took the Bofors bribes? Who do you think got the money? And WHY is Sonia Gandhi asking the papers to be made public when she KNOWS that they cannot as per the agreement?? Or this is part of the plan too?

princess (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:30 IST)
good evening sir, how do you think mahatma gandhi would react, if he were alive today, to see a foreign-born leading the congress's election campaign? isn't it a negation of all that he and millions who gave their lives to free us of the foreign yoke, stood for? do you see it that way?

Aakriti (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:33 IST)
You seem to be here to please your future-PM(?)...people know what flying colors Rajiv came out with....it's true that head of nations have coteries. But, abroad, the head of nation doesn't allow these coteries to exploit power for pecuniary gains.. And if they do...they are not shielded by the head of the state... Contrary to that, people like Arun Nehru & Ottavio Quattrochi were constantly shileded by Rajiv... What's the guarantee that , say MS Aiyar wouldn't exploit in future Sonia as PM?

Truthseeker (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:33 IST)
Mr Singh was the Bofors money part of the Congress funds? is it how the party raised money till Bofors broke out? WHAT IS THE TRUTH, SIR???

princess (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:33 IST)
considering that you are the technical wizard behind the congress party, may i ask you your qualifications and experience in related fields? and, are you on the congress party payroll? if not, how else does your family survive?

Anita (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:35 IST)
Mr Singh, who do you think was the most corrupt prime minister we have had? everyone says the rao government was venal, but my own view was that rajiv gandhi presided over the most corrupt -- apart from the most inefficient -- ministry ever.

narsimha Rao (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:35 IST)
Mr VPS ,,Tell me how Sonia represents the congress culture. Just because Some persons from her family became the Prime Ministers. And when she talked about sacrifice, What sacrfice ?? Who brought Bhindranwale into the limelight. Who is responsible for training the LTTE? And now what she is doing to reveal the truth about Bofors?? It's amazing that in a gun deal between a Swedish firm and India, an Italian gets the commission, WHY ?? Why did Quatrocchi get paid??

princess (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:37 IST)
You have mounted an excellent defence of sonia gandhi, no doubt. but, contrary to what you say, i read in a book recently, written by someone who knew the family inside out, that "sonia fought like a cat/tigress (whatever) to keep rajiv out of politics". for such a person to mount such a spectacular defence of her husband's political career, as you say, needs little more than just ordinary inspiration. can one hazard a guess that she wants the power to decide what the nation ought to know and not know, so that her husband does not get further tarnished posthumously?

Kapurtala (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:38 IST)
Hullo, Jat Bhai. Why don't you dump the senile Vithalrao Gadgil and get someone as forceful as Sushma Swaraj or Venkaiah Naidu to be your spokesman? I am surprised that the party has been on the back foot on issues like Mr ABV's allegedly dubious role in 1942. I mean what patriotism are we talking about when the PM-to-be slunk away at the first sight of trouble?

Aakriti (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:39 IST)
Moving away from SoniaG to Congress...wouldn't it have been better for the Congress (& India) if people at the grassroots like Rajesh Pilot, Mamata Bannerjee, AK Antony were given more say in policy affairs rather than people like Kesri, Pranab Mukherjee who, i'm afraid, have never won a single direct election like that of MP and MLA.. They are mere arm-chair theorists ? Congress seems to have a culture of alienating members who have really seen the actual India and understand her true problems.

Double Click (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:41 IST)
Hello Mr Singh. Are you guys using the Web in any way to keep track of the campaigning across your vast country?

narsimha Rao (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:43 IST)
Mr VPS ,, So now when you don't have any point, you want to malign Vajpayeeji. You congressmen can go down to any deep level in frustration.

Sultan Singh (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:45 IST)
Thank you VP. But where is the darned letter? Why don't you get it out of PVN and splash it over? Sink these BJP hypocrites! But, wait, PVN is their man too!

Aakriti (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:46 IST)
Media reports say that MR Scindia is also a potential PM candidate of congress...but i'm afraid...he has come out as a fascist to me...earlier i had great respect for him...but after he was charged in the hawala scandal.. he said in a rally at Gwalior (excerpts of which were shown on TV news bulletin that night) that he doesn't need a certificate of a "Havaldar" (apparently aimed at CBI inspectors) to prove his innocence.

doesn't it seem like saying that my son doesn't need the certificate of a school teacher to pass...i know he may be innocent & he may have been wrongly framed...but he should have fought it politically. instead of making a mockery of institutions...

what can a "Havildar" do? It's his job to investigate...whether Mr.Scindia likes it or not...isn't this an example of fascist and feudal mindset?...isn't it more dangerous than communalism?

Double Click (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:47 IST)
Mr Singh, I am really curious to know if your party is using the Web in any way to keep track of the campaigning?

princess (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:49 IST)
now have you shut me out, or what? i know there is a flood of questions, often uncomfortable, but hey, isn't it your job to field them? or was this supposed to be a teddybear's picnic?

narsimha Rao (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:50 IST)
Mr VPS ,, Now Sonia Gandhi says to solve all the problems of the country if congress comes to power ( Sheer DAY dreaming ) Tell us what it did in last fifty years, or even during the five years when Rajiv was PM. That time what Rajiv did was go on foreign visits and have vacations with Q. How can we believe that you low level Congressmen will do something else other than to fill your own pockets.

Aakriti (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:51 IST)
Mr.Singh....it's pre-election time...please...can we concentrate on policy issues. Rather than your qualifications, name (VPS) etc...we can discuss them sometime later. maybe sometime after the election....i will request the rediff guys to arrange for one....people of India want answers to a lot of questions before they go to the polling booth.. i hope u understand...

princess (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:52 IST)
your reply to madhuri pandey that you have no technical education whatsoever, now why does that strike me to be inaccurate? do i know something about you that you are not willing to admit here?!

Aakriti (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:57 IST)
SoniaG and congress are giving a humorous and pretty ridiculous suggestion to solve the unemployment problem of India.. that one year kinda thing where unemployed people will work for one year and the GoI will pay them....aren't these damn short-sighted and opportunistic solutions to a dangerous problem...is the congress policy think-tank so bankrupt that it can't even find a good long-term measure to solve growing unemployment.....?

narsimha Rao (Wed Feb 11 1998 8:58 IST)
VPS, Another question, What is the point of providing SPG to Sonia and family. Is her life more important than that of a Kashmiri Pandit . Why can't normal policemen provide her security. Are they not capable enough. And if the Indian police is not capable enough who is responsible?

narsimha Rao (Wed Feb 11 1998 9:1 IST)
Hey, you don't have answer any of my questions? How can you solve India's problems when you can't answer simple questions?

Aakriti (Wed Feb 11 1998 9:2 IST)
Mr.Singh...you seemed to have come with a strategy to avoid questions on policy issues on which...it's sad but true...all congressman find uncomfortable...instead u wasted most of your and our time on petty things like your qualification, Name (VPS vs. VP singh, the ex-pm)..... It's really indicative of to what extent polity in India is rotten today....ciao any way...God bless India
