'The music is more exciting now'

Bangalore, February 21, 2001, 1415 hours IST: In India for a concert, M C Hammer discovered a large following waiting for him on the Internet.

Princess : is this all about gangsta rap folks?
MC Hammer : I am not a gangster rapper

Rappa : Hi Stanley, where did you dissappear after dazzling us with your awesome videos and mindblowing music?
MC Hammer : I disappeared to spend time with my family and prepare my new music and show.

Loader : Go Hammer Go Hammer Go!@!!!! Loved you man, been a long time since we heard you. Tell me in this age of gangsta rap, do you think you'll be able to hit it big again with your clean rap?
MC Hammer : My music moves the people and there r more people who want to have fun than who want to die.

Mainman : What do you think of Eminem? With his racial music and homophobia do you think he should have been nominated for the Grammy's?
MC Hammer : Eminem is a great lyricist and his record sales qualifies him for Grammy nomination. I personally am not into his content.

Princess : i wanna know more about the bankruptcy...
MC Hammer : It was 1996. Six years ago. And it was a very worthwhile and needed experience.

Poppy : Hammer will your shows still have those massive sets and awesome dancers?
MC Hammer : Yes, we do big shows.

dino : hammer , ru really gonna rock bangalore, cos i feel that ur show has been hyped too much
MC Hammer : We will actually be better than the hype...

Arunjam : HI Hammer! you really Thump The Beats dude!!!!!!!!!
MC Hammer : Its all good!

Arunjam : so hammer, when are you coming to Rap chennai cuty into a rapture
MC Hammer : I would love to come soon..

Arunjam : I have always loved you man!You just freak outon da wordz
MC Hammer : Thank you

Suparn : Hi everyone, MC Hammer will be joining us at 1330 pm, sorry for the delay.

Kasey : Hi Hammer WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO so how different is your music now compared to what it was like almost 9 years ago from now?
MC Hammer : I am a better dancer now and the music is more exciting and sonically profound. In other words, its pounding

Princess : So why did you go broke?
MC Hammer : I filed a bankruptcy but I didn't go broke!

Musicbuddy : Stanley YOU ARE THE BEST---Do you think there was a jinx on the rappers who won the Grammy with you that year? Vanilla Ice has has his share of problems and we almost lost you?
MC Hammer : No, I don't believe in jinxes. Life is made up of challenges. And we all have to accept them.

Jamie : Hammer what do you think of the current scene of rap music? are you disillusioned with the whole scene with Snoop Doggy behind bars, Notrious Mr Big dead....? Rap seems to have become more of an agrressor than a healer
MC Hammer : Rap music was never a healing music for most anyway. Snoop Dog is not in jail. And the death of the Notorious BIG and Tupac was a result of social and political problems.

Princess : So what did the bankruptcy teach you?
MC Hammer : Be very careful of who you put your trust in. And if you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. If u teach him to fish, he can eat for life.

Jena : Stanley tell us about your latest album Family Affair
MC Hammer : Family Affair was never released to the retail stores. It was a studio album and I only allowed some Internet downloads.

Natasha : Stanley why isn't your new album being aggressivley promoted in the West?
MC Hammer : Its not time yet. The album is in my opinion monumental and it must be promoted with the whole world in mind. And all of the songs have their own life and meaning. So, there will be no rush but the album will be revealed to the world strategically.

poochies : hi hammer...ive been a great fan of yours..will u ever perform in delhi, india?
MC Hammer : I hope to perform in Delhi in April or May in a benefit concert for the earthquake relief fund.

Helen : Which songs will you be performing in Bombay and how come you doing three straight shows at the same venue?
MC Hammer : I will perform about 20 songs in Bombay including all the hits and seven new songs.

Ila : Hey Hammerman:-) why did you drop the MC from your name? and what did it stand for?
MC Hammer : On one album, my title was just Hammer. But after that, all the albums I am referred to as MC Hammer. And thats my name. The MC stands for master of ceremonies.

Bum : Do you think that this long break of 10 years will hurt your chances of coming back? tell us about your family
MC Hammer : Its been five years since the last MC Hammer album. And global artistes can take their time presenting new music.

AJ : Are these 7 new songs among the ones from the new album
MC Hammer : Yes, they are. From the new album which is called Who's Holdin' It?

yathi : hi! hammer ! welcome to india
MCHammer : Well, everyone, I'm sorry but the Net connection let us down. I enjoyed chatting with you guys. Come see me at one of my concerts. And God Bless You....!
