Ms Lisa Ray : Well actually the offer from Kasoor came outof
the blue and it was such a great role- such a strong central female character-
that I couldn't say no. Plus it was great working with a young team and
director.

Ms Lisa Ray : I promise Zulu that it's the real thing- you can
test me out and plus there's a photographer here taking the proof.
mastananair : what kind of roles are u
looking for in films
Ms Lisa Ray : I'm looking for roles similar to Kasoor- strong,
challenging female roles- and you'll have to see Kasoor to know what I mean!
Suraj : lisa who all are there in your
family?
Ms Lisa Ray : Well suraj, there is my daddy, my mommy, me and
my two cats, Pinky and Porky- and please don't blame me, because my mom named
them.
Pradeep : Why it's taking this much
time for a good-looking, talented, sexy model like you to get a better
opportunity
Ms Lisa Ray : Well Pradeep, I didn't really want to enter
films- in fact I've been turning down very prestigiuos offers for years. But
Kasoor is a special film and an important role so I felt strongly about doing
the movie.

Ms Lisa Ray : Thanks munna- I have a good feeling about the
first year of the new millenium- how about you? By the way, what did youall do
for New Years? I had a quiet, but good celebration.
Anand : You are termed as sexy???? Do
you agree???
Ms Lisa Ray : I think that is only one aspect of my image. I
am not very sexy in real life and I have tried hard to project all kinds of
differnt images. I feel my most valuable asset is my versitility. For instance,
in Kasoor, I am playing a lawyer, so I worked hard on projecting the part in
terms of acting and looks.
Mickey : Lisa, when is your first
movie is expected to release? I wish you all the best.
Ms Lisa Ray : Thaks mickey- Kasoor is releasing on Feb 2 and
thanks for your good wishes. I likethe fim personally alot, but I hope all you

Ms Lisa Ray : I was 16 when I modelled for Bombay dyeing, so
you can do the math for yourself.

india after such a long spell abroad. I want the true answer and nothing that

Ms Lisa Ray : I made a consciuos decision to settle down in
Bombay becasue this is where I feel I belong. I may have been born and brought
up abroad but the fact is I was always attracted to India (my family is from
Calcutta) My heart and soul belong here and I can't even explain why. I haven't
been back to Canada now in three years. I am very much an Indian -a slightly
westernized Indian, but an Indian. And proud of it!

Ms Lisa Ray : I really believe I am a decent person, but you
all don't know me personally, so you can't vouch for that. I think my greatest
acheievment is I have managed to maintain my integrity and not compromise on my
beliefs while achieving a certain level of success and sustaining it int he

Ms Lisa Ray : My father is a Ph'd in Chemistry and he was a
chemical engineer working in the Petroleum industry in Canada.

something different and it is a film made with conviction and not just for

Ms Lisa Ray : We are into our second year now and because I
also enjoy watching films, i find it fun to talk about them. Plus we try and
keep the atmosphere very informal and fun

the Kumbh Mela this year, so I would probably lose madonna in the crowd of

Ms Lisa Ray : Yes I do, but there is nothing wrong with
formula films. The problem is there should be a choice for people to see-
that's what we've tried to do with Kasoor- makesomething different and fresh,
but within the commericial hindi film format.

Ms Lisa Ray : You know shikha, I am very bad at planning
because I believe my life has realy been ruled more by destiny. My favourite
saying is "life is what happens when you're busy making other plans' and
it's true!

Ms Lisa Ray : I have never met Sunny and I don't want to. Now
after working in the glamour business so many years, i know how much of what we
do is abut creating an illusion so I believe more in real people. My closest

Ms Lisa Ray : I am proud of the movie that we have made and i
feel creatively satisfied, so although I would be very disapointed, i have a
lot of other work thatI am juggling andI am begining another film project- but
I am so confident of the film I don't think it can flop

Ms Lisa Ray : My first day's work was a confrontation scene
with no other than Ashutosh Rana- he is of course a brilliant actor. I was so
scared! But I am happy to report that heis a thorough gentleman and was so
supportive that the scene went off well and hecomplimented me. Since then, it
was home free!

Ms Lisa Ray : First of all, Aftab is playing a character much
elder to his real age and he is also looking the part. Second, our film unit
was one of the most professional, disciplined and focused unit I have ever
worked with, so I had nothing but good experiences. Please see the film and let

Ms Lisa Ray : My experience has been that if one conducts
oneself with integrity and dignity and in a mature fashion, there is no chance
for any misbehaviour. You have to be strong to be in this business and i have
matured tremendously and learned a lot. The only thing I still hate is
unecessary attention on my private life, becasue I am a very private person.

Ms Lisa Ray : I am currently not doing any music videos becasue
I feel the market is saturated now. I love music, but god help anyone around me

have a very strong role again and I did not want to do hindi films, but Mr.
Mukul Anand was a very nice and persistant man, so I agreed to do Dus, but
before the shooting began I realized I was not prepared mentally, so I opted
out. Simple,na? Actually you haveto be very committed to do a film and I was
hesitant about a lot of things to do with the film industry.

Ms Lisa Ray : I had a very beautiful and idyllic childhood-

particular memorable moment, but people who know me well willtell you that I am
still a child- an intelligent child, but a child.
