Purva Bedi, Live

After watching countless episodes of ER and various other soaps, an Indian actress has broken through.

Purva Bedi made her debut in the award winning series ER in the season's opening episode as a medical student.

An active participant in theater, her big break came when she got the meaty role of Meenah in Ayub Khan Din's uproarious hit, 'East is East' at the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York. She played a 16-year-old tomboy. So impressed was Sonia Nikore, a casting director at NBC, with Purva's acting that a year later when the role was right, Nikore recommended her for 'ER'.

After East is East, Purva played the lead role of Nina in Piyush Dinkar Pandya's film American Desi.

Her career took an upswing when she got a role in an independent Indian-American film, Wings of Hope with an opportunity to work with Bollywood stalwarts like Roshan Seth, Deepti Naval, and Suresh Oberoi. In this film she plays the sister of a young alcoholic and drug addict and helps keep the family together.

Meet vivacious and unassuming Purva Bedi when she logs on to The Rediff Chat from New York City on January 22 at 8 pm PST(Jan 23, 9.30 am IST).
