Hi everyone

Radha (Tue Jan 27 1998 7:57 IST)
Mr Jairam, Do you think the Sitaram Kesri did a wise thing by NOT giving Mr Rao a ticket just as part of the Congress policy of apppeasement towards the minorities???

Sanjay (Tue Jan 27 1998 7:57 IST)
Mr Ramesh: Why did you joined the congress party??

Shankar (Tue Jan 27 1998 7:58 IST)
Hello Mr Ramesh: Sir WHAT IS YOUR MANIFESTO???STABILITY??? but THE CONGRESS CAUSED INSTABILITY in the first place TWICE just to come to power

Ashish (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:5 IST)
Mr Ramesh: Hello, how are U???

urdead (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:6 IST)
Jairam Ramesh, What's a nice guy like you doing in the Congress?

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:6 IST)
Mr Jai Ram, How can you justify Sukh Ram and other crooks

Anjali Mishra (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:9 IST)
Good evening Mr Ramesh: You ask us to vote the Congress -- but what promise does the Congress party hold for us? It has come forward with no hard issue. For the past fortnight, it has rested on Mrs Gandhi's charisma. It has no concerned leaders, apart from the reassuring presence of a Manmohan Singh, P A Sangama, AK Antony...it consists of a leadership that is over the hill. With no visions, tainted with corruption and now banking on Mrs Gandhi for its political fortunes...how can the Congress win back its voters who have become thoroughly disgusted with it?

Ashish (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:11 IST)
Mr Ramesh: Since you come from economics background. Can you tell us whether the South East Asian Economic crisis will affect our country in any way? If no, why???

JenitR (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:15 IST)
Good evening Mr. Ramesh.

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:16 IST)
Mr. Jai Ram Is Sonia ready to apologise to Sri Lanka next?

Pradeep Barua (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:16 IST)
Mr Ramesh: But isn't it Mr Jairam, BJP is also talking about liberalisation. Infact, their is the party which was the first on INTERNET, www. bjp.org. And your 112 year old congress party has made lives miserable for the people of this country with your appeasement policies???

JenitR (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:17 IST)
What do you think is the cause of the current economic slowdown and when will it start moving upwards?

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:18 IST)
Mr. Jai Ram The spate of Apologies does it not confirm the anti national role of Congress?

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:20 IST)
Mr. Jai Ram I must congratulate the congress for inter nationalising the politics of India.

urdead (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:21 IST)
Rameshji (like all politicians, the honourific has to be added), are you avoiding my first query?

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:21 IST)

Rohit (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:22 IST)

urdead (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:23 IST)
Come on Jairam Ramesh, don't end up like Vajpayee, right guy in the wrong party? Quit while you are still ahead!

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:24 IST)
Mr. Jai Ram by any chance are you wearing RED SHIRT?

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:26 IST)
Hello! HI everyone Is Mr. Ramesh still around?

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:26 IST)
Mr. Jai Ram Sonia layoo desh Bachayo? What a disgrace. Congress seems to suffer from prostrate cancer?

Syed Ali (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:27 IST)
Haha! You are learning, Rameshji. Spoken like a politician. Not the man who used to write those forthright columns in BT anfd the host of Crossfire. Waffle, waffle. Anyway, since you have raised the CPI-M, you are in pole position to tell us how the marxists scuttled the reforms and prevented Mr C from getting ahead with the reforms.

Anjali Mishra (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:27 IST)
Mr Ramesh, what growth rate do you expect,if the Congress does head a coalition in the next government?

Bidyut Ganguly (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:28 IST)
In what specific ways will the Congress take the reform process forward if it is voted to power? I expect you to be a MoS at least!

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:28 IST)
Mr. Ramesh, During the Congress Regime, you have seen the style of administration of different Ministers in Finance Ministry. Could you please compare the styles of Dr. Manmohan Singh and Mr. Chidambaram?

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:28 IST)
Mr. Jai Ram Sonia Swings Kesari lifts and is caught in the deep fine leg. Howwazaat?

nagu (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:29 IST)
Doesn't Congress party have any capable leaders? Why do you have to always run behind politically inexperienced Nehru family members?

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:29 IST)
he he, Mr. SK Iyer, No wonder you asked the same q!! :)

RR (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:30 IST)
'Criticism of the the UF by thye Congress has more to do with politics than with economics' ??!! Such candour marks you out as a misfit in the congress, Mr Ramesh. Would you let us know why you joined it ?

shreekanth (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:30 IST)
Mr. Ramesh; Good Evening to you and many thanks for chatting with us; Don't you think that a coalition government is good as reforms are implemented a lot faster

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:31 IST)
Mr. Nagu, Elementary My dear Nagu, Motilal mad e the right investment.

Bidyut Ganguly (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:33 IST)
Shame on you Jairam! Was Narasimha Rao the only person responsible for the demolition? What about Arjun Singh and Sitaram Kesri, who were members of the Cabinet? Have you not heard of collective responsibility?

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:34 IST)
Mr. Ramesh, Could you please compare the governing styles of Mr. Chidambaram and Dr. Manmohan Singh?

Anjali Mishra (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:34 IST)
Mr Ramesh, don't you think the Congress has waded too far from the people, that it is difficult for them to win its people. What is it that they to draw voters? Can you specify?

nagu (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:37 IST)
Rao indifferent to corruption? Yeah, he always followed Indira Gandhi. She was the one who nurtured all the corrupt CMs of south.

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:38 IST)
Thank you, Mr. Ramesh That was apt reply :) What do you think would their portfolios in the government be, should UF and Congress come together to form a govt again, in the event of a hung parliament?

shreekanth (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:38 IST)
Mr. Ramesh; Good Evening to you and many thanks for chatting with us; Don't you think that a coalition government is good as reforms are implemented a lot faster

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:40 IST)
Mr. Jai Ram Frank(ly swiss) you dont have the guts to rationalise the activities of Mr. Q, and other rasputins. As long as spineless educated illiterate like you are in India (at the helm of ) of affairs, we can expect Italiians, British even Pakistan to rule India ( some body is already ruling from Dubai). Stop doling out BS. and spill the beans.

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:43 IST)
Mr. Ramesh, Should Congress win, what do you think of the task cut for Ms. Sonia Gandhi? She has declared that she would not contest LS Polls. At present, she is the campaigner for the Congress.

srikant (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:44 IST)
Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Should not the country be run like a business on a professional basis and what is your contribution in this regard towards India becoming a great power ( I guess only economic power matters) ?

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:47 IST)
Mr. Ramesh, How is Congress justified in holding Mr. Narasimha Rao responsible for the Babri Majid demolition? NO matter who the leader of a team is, the whole team is responsible for any consequences, good or bad. So, dont you think the Congress Govt as whole was responsible for the debacle?

Swiss Miss (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:48 IST)
Mr Jai Ram I am a political (typical of Swiss) don't you know that two great contributions of Itallians ( among many other) Facisim and MAfia.

Anjali Mishra (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:49 IST)
Mr Ramesh: I believe that you are from Tamil Nadu? Why did you join the Congress party which has no prospects in your state???

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:50 IST)
Thank you, Mr. Ramesh, IT was nice chatting with you. All the best.

Energy (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:52 IST)
Mr. Ramesh, Being an intellectual and a professional, dont you think you would have been better off with the TMC?

srikant (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:52 IST)
Mr. Jairam Ramesh Are you still chatting or have logged out ?

RR (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:54 IST)
Mr Ramesh, Perhaps I should rephrase my query: After the first two years of Mr. Narasimha Rao's rule, liberalization died. Expenditure went back to its usual wasteful state, Licenses did not wuite dissappear, congress was mere liberal with them and the licensees were not allowed to operate until they greased the entire machinary. In short, Dr. Manmohan Singh ceased to be backed by political will. Despite CPI-M (and you could hardly say they were corrupt), it is UF that demonstrated conviction and made far more progress. Its precisely because they did not allow Congress to dispense patronage that the latter withdrew support. So Congress spouting liberalization sounds like the usual frenzied lying before elections...

srikant (Tue Jan 27 1998 8:54 IST)
bye Mr. J Ramesh; and thanks

kesh (Tue Jan 27 1998 9:0 IST)
