Mera kuchh is from Ijaazat and 'Mora gora rang ' is his first song as lyricist and is from Bandini. By the way he has received 14 Filmfare awards and written songs for around 75 movies. With the avg. of 5 songs per movie it comes to around 350-370. Directed 17 movies out of which 16 are released and 1 (Libaas) unreleased.

No, its not the matter of ability. Its the matter of quality also. We have a singer who sings 28 songs a day does that reflect he superior to all the legends ? Certainly not. Its the beauty of Gulzar Sahab's work that represnts his capabilities. Think of 'Aaj kal Paon jamin par..' (Ghar) or think of 'Qatra Qatra milti hai ..'(Ijaazat) or 'Thoda hai thode ki jaroorat hai..' that speaks of his capacities.

Gulzar ji, is it the same feeling that you are trying to convey through 'Bolo kya tum bas itnasa mera kaam karoge..' and 'Mera Kuchh saman..'. I haven't seen 'Daayara' but I have seen 'Ijaazat' around 15 times. But every single time I listen to both the songs I think that they resemble each other. Please comment.

Amit, while you were away, he replied: Gulzar : Swastik: Straightaway to confess. NO. In foriegn film festivals many a times we have been questioned that why Indian and Pakistani films have English titles and the language of the film was not the same. In our own country it's not the same with Bengali and South India films, whether Tamil, Telegu, Kanada, Malayam... It's only in Hindi and Urdu films that we have this. I think it's more for the trade reasons that it has been imposed on us. Secondly English provides the all India link. For the second part of your question, it's not fair to speak English in Hindi programs and keep punching Hindi into English programs. Kyon theekh hai ki nahin?:-)

i think zindagi will be closer to ghazal since all the shers of ghazal even though being of same bahar and radeef may have different topics, like life... not nazm which has one story.
