This part of the transcript is unedited, and is reproduced verbatim.

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:18 IST)
Mr Bhagwat, welcome back to civilian life... What's the difference you face now, compared to your earlier lifestyle? And, the ignominy of being teh first service chief to be sacked, has it rubbed off on friends and relatives, in that do they behave differently now?

Nilofer (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:19 IST)
What actually happened???

admiraladmirer (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:23 IST)
Where is the Admiral?

H Singh (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:26 IST)
Admiral: Is it not true that George Fernandes calls you a security risk because of your proximity to the Russians? Unfortunately, he cannot be explicit because it may affect our association with the Russians.

Podgy (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:27 IST)
Is it true that the government has withheld your pension? Will you take the government to court over the issue?

slammer (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:28 IST)
Give the government hell, Admiral

Komitet (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:34 IST)
Sir,

slammer (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:38 IST)
You have not yet given us a reason that could explain your not going to court over the issue of you dismissal.

nadya (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:40 IST)
Sir, The Week says you were ousted due to pressure from arms dealers. They quoted your wife. what do you have to say to that, sir?

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:40 IST)
Mr Bhagwat, welcome back to civilian life... What's the difference you face now, compared to your earlier lifestyle? And, the ignominy of being teh first service chief to be sacked, has it rubbed off on friends and relatives, in that do they behave differently now?

Podgy (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:40 IST)
People in the navy say you created a mood of fear, where people loyal to you spied on those who did not care much for you. One manifestation of that was your threatening then Vice-Admiral Sushil Kumar with a court martial. Do you deny that you were autocratic? Do you denied that you threatened Admiral S Kumar mwith a court martial?

bbmitra (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:42 IST)
You say that everyone in the government conspired against you, but what about the allegation that you worked against India's national security and that you leaked secret information to India's potentital enemies (specially about operations in the Andaman Nicobar Island)?

nadya (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:42 IST)
Sir, do you feel that a defence minister who houses the Burmese democratic movement in his house sets a suitable example for the armed forces?

Desh Drohi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:47 IST)
Admiral Bhagwat: How do u pass your time these days? And BTW,are u getting your pension and other benefits of retired naval officer?

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:49 IST)
Mr Bhagwat, your dismissal, doesn't it also mean that you not permitted to have the "Admiral" tag before your name?

bbmitra (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:49 IST)
Admiral, you've created history! But was your wife acting as 1. Wife of Naval Chief 2. Or a lawyer 3. Or wife of Bhagwat 4. Defender of H. Singh's allegations?

A K Rao (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:50 IST)
Sir, sorry for logging in late/ But having just seen your last post, will you tell us if you are going to take the government to court? will you enter politics? or will your rebellion against this government be limited to your memoirs?

Bernie Menezes (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:50 IST)
Mr Bhagwat: Are you still an admiral?

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:51 IST)
Mr Bhagwat, only today, teh Delhi HC dismissed the PIL on your dismissal. What do you have to say about it?

Desh Premi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:51 IST)
Admiral Bhagwat: I am very proud of your stance to go against these chaddiwalas. But, I don't understand why you kept quite for so long rather than attacking these BJP guys right then?

Bernie Menezes (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:52 IST)
someone in the chat room has already asked that question... so I shall ask you another question... how will you prevent yourself from being a footnote in Indian history?

Muzaffar Contractor (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:53 IST)
do you think you would have got more sympathy if you had fought the government yourself and not from behind your wife's polemics?

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:54 IST)
Mr Bhagwat, welcome back to civilian life... What's the difference you face now, compared to your earlier lifestyle? And, the ignominy of being teh first service chief to be sacked, has it rubbed off on friends and relatives, in that do they behave differently now?

H Singh (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:54 IST)
Admiral: Is it not true that George Fernandes calls you a security risk because of your proximity to the Russians? Unfortunately, he cannot be explicit because it may affect our association with the Russians.

Gaurav Singh (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:54 IST)
Admiral Bhagwat: Tell us somethin honestly about George Fernandes. You have been stating that the BJP government is a fascist government. How come then they are appointing a Christian Defence minister? So don't you think the BJP too is a secular party?

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:56 IST)
Mr Bhagwat, that is canard you are relying on, when you make the reference about the "outfit behind the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi". The inquiry commission at that time went into the question, and did not find the RSS guilty of conspiracy, involvement or in anyway involved with teh assassination of the father of the nation.

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:57 IST)
And, talking of the Freedom MOvement, where were your wive's commie friends at that time, did you ever take the trouble of finding out?

Prashant (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:57 IST)
What plans do you have at the moment?

sandeepo (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:58 IST)
Gaurav Singh: Not to forget a Christian successor to Admiral Bhagwat... I think this man is just using abuse to hide his many faults. I would lbe inclined to believe George Fernandes when he says the admiral was a security risk. And Admiral, I am not a chaddiwallah. I probably hate them more than you do. Only I am not a bloody Commie!

S A Abraham (Fri Mar 5 1999 7:59 IST)
WOW! I checked out The Pioneer's ownership on Monday, and it said Chandan Mitra. Can you prove your allegation, sir? Or are you just articulating gossip?

GeorgeF (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:0 IST)
Mr Bhagwat, 20 The kind of work Iam doing for the armed forces needs a little more respect. In your years of service what have you done that u make such a big noise?

Indian (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:0 IST)
S A Abramham : Good catch!!

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:0 IST)
If Mr Bhagwat is to be believed, the TOI and the Hindustan Times are the only news dailies to believed in the country, given their circulation!!!

slammer (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:1 IST)
Why does a man who runs to court at the slightest provocation stay away from it when he is dismissed?

Desh Bakht (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:2 IST)
Sir, your answer does not explain why you think George Fernandes was behind your dismissal. Rhetoric, sir, cannot be a substitute for hard facts. Both you and Mrs Bhagwat have accused Mr fernandes of being a hand maiden for the arms agents, but where is the hard evidence? And how can you accuse Mr Singh of communalising the armed forces? The man who did that was his predecessor...

GeorgeF (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:2 IST)
Mr Bhagwat,,, 20 Accept it that you were trying to earn money through wrong ways

Muzaffar Contractor (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:3 IST)
Admiralsaab: There are allegations about your Russian connections that you need to address once and for all. The implication is that something inimical to India's interests was conducted during your visit to Russia in 1998? Could it be something to do with the Gorshkhov? That the Russians are giving to us free, but charing us Rs 20 billion for refurbishing?

Indian (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:3 IST)
Admiral Bhagwat: What about the article in India Today? Are you saying that they are also behind the "Bhagwa Rang" party? here is the uRL for the interested people: http://www.india-today.com/itoday/11011999/cover.html

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:4 IST)
The admiral, it seems, is hardly admirable *titter*

Indian (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:4 IST)
Desh Drohi .. Touche!

Indian (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:4 IST)
Shahzadi .. LOL

Muzaffar Contractor (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:4 IST)
GeorgeF: Whatever the admiral may be, I can tell you he is not a corrupt man. I live close to his home in Mumbai and am shocked by the austere manner in which he lives.

GeorgeF (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:6 IST)
Admiral Bhagwat, If you were not guilty ,you should have fought your battle instead of using your wife as a spokesman for yourself

Bernie Menezes (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:6 IST)
Sir, what did the President tell you when you met him on the evening of December 30?

Shahezadi (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:7 IST)
*Yawn* It seems Mr Bhagwat will only address questions that suit him... *yawn*...

Indian (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:8 IST)
Shahezadi .. he is .. after all .. a suited man!! ;-)

slammer (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:8 IST)
Why did you not go to court?

Komitet (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:11 IST)
Do you have any first hand experiences of communalism among the prime minister and home minister?

S A Abraham (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:12 IST)
Are you going to enter politics, sir?

Rajendran (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:16 IST)
Admiral: Do you have your own car?

Desh Bakht (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:21 IST)
Admiral: Why have you not been able to translate the image of a martyr to a figure of resistance against this government? One former CONS told me that you would be a 15 day wonder as indeed you were.

Chidambaram (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:22 IST)
Admiral Bhagwat: I mean what books you will recommend to read in economics? Do you think a system like Soviet Union can exist in today's free world? I mean how can you admire dictatorship?

Desh Bakht (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:23 IST)
Sir, your answer does not explain why you think George Fernandes was behind your dismissal. Rhetoric, sir, cannot be a substitute for hard facts. Both you and Mrs Bhagwat have accused Mr fernandes of being a hand maiden for the arms agents, but where is the hard evidence? And how can you accuse Mr Singh of communalising the armed forces? The man who did that was his predecessor...20

H Singh (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:25 IST)
Could you recall the day when your relationship with the defence minister soured? What were the factors that caused this?

Clara Siqueria (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:29 IST)
Admiral Bhagwat: You are going to the Press. Don't you think you are setting up a bad example for future generation. The nation is more important than your problems? Why are you sacrificing the nations discipline? At least, the armed forces?

Anita Sharma (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:31 IST)
Admiral Bhagwat: Are u writing a book? And do you think people of India will buy to know about your life? And by the way, how much will you price?

Abhijit Singh (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:34 IST)
Admiralji: Don't you feel suffocated to live with the fact that you have been sacked from Navy. I mean, whole day you must be thinking of these BJP wallahs and your good friend George Fernandes, isn't it?

zeta (Fri Mar 5 1999 8:54 IST)
Respected Sir, greetings.. What i would like to ask is whether the purpose that u say..ie respect for armed forces--has not deteriorated with the steps u have taken after getting sacked? like Mrs. Bhagwat going to the press instead of u...or your statment regarding P.M.'s actions before nuclear blasts?

kallol (Fri Mar 5 1999 10:3 IST)
Why don't you go to court upon your sacking?

sudhir (Fri Mar 5 1999 18:5 IST)
Precisely what was the reason you rejected the govenment's nominee for the position of Deputy Admiral
