Questions Mr Aiyar did not answer

Politician (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:35 IST)
I wasn't discussing the solipsistic view of truth, the kind sensed through chemical-nervous interaction. If it is vacillation you seek, you are welcome to it. I speak solely of the truth as accepted by the educated statistical majority. You may make what you will of "educated", "statistical" and "majority" but if you accept these as valid terms, would your kind of truth hold before an impartial rpt impartial judge? So are your columns honest?

Chat Queen (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:38 IST)
:) I like your answer , saar....but how're you going to do it? Bunk the junk, by all means, but don't let the innocents suffer ...they have had more than they deserve of injustice on top of their injuries....we wnat you to understand that they only got into power because Congress thought they were going to win.... They did not check that those who wanted to vote for them were not on the electoral lists...entire sections wewre omitted and since the lower cadre that handle these things, are sainiks in disguise...they idid not help us out! Make sure that you correct this at once!

Politician (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:39 IST)
Why is the Congress waiting for the government to fall when a weak govt lasting for some time may provide time to for the BJP's current clout to reduce?

Chat Queen (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:42 IST)
Is Aiyar saab still out there?!

Politician (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:43 IST)
Rishi, you might get our distinguished guest into trouble. The truth, it appears, is what ought to be not facts sealed in the fate of atoms, the variety that is present in the cheques, the ink of the signatures... Don't seek the truth, Rishi. The truth, according to MSI, is only an opinion, right?

Just Another Person (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:45 IST)
Hey, who turned off the lights? *groping in the dark for our distinguished guest... or is it host?*

Rishi (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:49 IST)
make haste, mr aiyer, we do not have eternity

Rishi (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:53 IST)
but is stability everything? congress stability for 45 years has still kept India in poverty, illiteracy, casteist, communalised, and thoroughly corrupted -- its greatst achievment after 45 years. Is stability such an overriding virtue?

Chat Queen (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:54 IST)
Advise the Gandhis to get into politics by all means! But change The NAME! All the Gandhi's in politics had a violent end... must be numerically bad!!Maybe the original name of Batliwala may help!! Do use your influence and tell them

Just Another Person (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:54 IST)
*nodding at Rishi's post* That's right too, we have been stable in our poverty, ignorance, intolerance and all the rest of it. Why, Mr Aiyar? Where did we fail?

Chat Queen (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:56 IST)
I have a point of view, saar, Indian culture and history goes back at least 3-4 thousand years...we have not changed oue culture or way of thinking. The British are a mere pimple of two and a half centuries...what's so great in celebrating 50 years of "Independence"? What do you think...are we making a mountain out of nothing?

Chat Queen (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:58 IST)

The British are a mere pimple of two and a half centuries...what's so great in celebrating 50 years of "Independence"? Are we truly independent, despite 40+ years of Congress et al? The promise of Roti Kapda & Makaan is a still a distant dream for a greater number of us.

Rishi (Wed Jul 23 1997 20:59 IST)
Dear Mr Aiyer, I have still not received a single reply, but I shall persevere -- hope springs eternal .... -- regarding the spectator article, india will overtake USA by 2051, but NOT all Indians. The average Indian will still be poorer, and that is important too, not just the country but the people's prosperity. Pls comment/reply.

Rishi (Wed Jul 23 1997 21:3 IST)
Nice to hear about Mr Gujral's honesty and frankness. But damn it, HE IS THE PM and if he can't do anything, who can, or will? Time he did, not just spoke. He is still behaving like a Congress man!!!!

Rishi (Wed Jul 23 1997 21:4 IST)
A reply, a reply, my netdom for a reply!

Chat Queen (Wed Jul 23 1997 21:8 IST)
As long as we exist, we Indians cannot escape corruption...it is a religion with us,non believers of our own strength, that we are! We offer bribes to idols in the temples, our bosses and leaders are our mai-baap devtas,so appeasing entities that hold us in their power, will have to be given a chadhaava...so if we can bribe the Gods in the temples...its easier to bribe the Gods on the Chairs!Corruption zindabaad !! is the tune for poor Bharat. Are you planning to become another god in this pantheon??!

Politician (Wed Jul 23 1997 21:11 IST)
You notice he does not trust another politician. True to type, we may say, though, of course, that's politically incorrect

Politician (Wed Jul 23 1997 21:12 IST)
What truth? N, Ardbo. Whose truth, rather

Guruji (Wed Jul 23 1997 21:57 IST)
oh what optimism for aparty on continuing decline and with a shameful coterie culture. it is not assuring at all that such party would be in power to steer us into 21st century. if it is true then please stop the train. i want to get off.

Guruji (Wed Jul 23 1997 22:4 IST)
scrolling down, i read how you explained the corrupt politicians. "they take bribes because there are people who give them bribes". That is like saying i am an extortionist because you are a hapless powerless victim who has no option but to be exploited. If the true power lay in the hands of the honest hard working middle class you people won't survive a day in power position to take bribes. It is because of the poor uneducated class that politicians are still ruling the roost.

Guruji (Wed Jul 23 1997 22:8 IST)
too bad i missed your chat. this stupid registration process delayed me.

Guruji (Wed Jul 23 1997 22:11 IST)
and don't beleive anything just because it is in the print. Indian economy will not surpass US economy by 2051 just because some stupid magazine printed it so. We have to "make it happen".

Guruji (Wed Jul 23 1997 22:12 IST)
bye.

Guruji (Wed Jul 23 1997 22:14 IST)
and BTW, highest paid is not necessarily the best.
