Rapi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:5 IST)
Mr MFH I have never been on this chat before please tell me about yourself

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:8 IST)
Mr. Husain, why did you paint Devi saraswati in the nude?

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:8 IST)
Hang on jahanaara! This is a new medium for an old master! He"ll catch on never fear!

Rapi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:9 IST)
Ms Dixit is still just as good as when she started acting. If you take time to watch a film you will appreciate that she still is producing hits.

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:10 IST)
Mr. Husain, what were your feelings when some of your paintings were destroyed as a result of your painting Saraswati in the nude?

Rapi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:11 IST)
sandesa, I saw 'Dil to Paagal hai' this week here in England and it was an absolutely fabulous production all credit to the producers.

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:11 IST)
MFH, according to my circle of friends, we feel that your best period was the horses period...The joy and freedom you expressed in those paintings made us draw towards the strength in your work....Did you have any need or desire to express these works? tell us, please!

Sumi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:13 IST)
Mr Husain, do you think that students should write with fountain pens?

sandesa (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:13 IST)
rapi : I liked the songs but the movies ' too bad otherwise

sandesa (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:14 IST)
And Madhuri looks old , too old

Rapi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:15 IST)
Sandesa, I enjoyed the film and the songs but I don't watch many asian films.

rags (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:15 IST)
Mr.husain; how many times do you plan to see 'Dil....'

sandesa (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:16 IST)
Hussain : IAm happy u answered me ... first time Iam talking to a celebrity

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:16 IST)
Sir will you please answert my question...we'd rather know more about you than the Dixit dame. We"ll talk about her when she gets into the chatroom... MFH, according to my circle of friends, we feel that your best period was the horses period...The joy and freedom you expressed in those paintings made us draw towards the strength in your work....Did you have any need or desire to express these works? tell us, please!

Rapi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:16 IST)
Considering how long she has been in the industry, she is bound to get older, nobody gets younger!!!

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:16 IST)
Mr. Hussain, I thought we were going to talk about your paintings. Here you are discussing how many times a picture you have seen and how Madhuri looks.

nipuls (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:17 IST)
Mr Husain, it is specifically one you planned two years ago I am discussing. One in which you were to paint at Bandra station and a variety of other places in India, including at Cochin . The proceeds, if I remember right, were to go to some worthy cause. You were then working with one Menon.

sandesa (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:17 IST)
Hussain : But don't u think Aishwarya Rai is much more beautiful ?

Rapi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:18 IST)
Mr M F H, do you think you have produced your best work or is it still to come?

Sumi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:18 IST)
Mr Husain, you have used a computer, a Machintosh to do your paintings. Do you think one day computers will take over the brush and the palette?

sandesa (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:19 IST)
Hussain : Why don't u make it 4 Ms and add Mayawati ?

ajit donald (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:19 IST)
Husainsaab: One of your editor friends once said everytime you feel you are being eased out of the limelight, you devise some gimmick to get back in. The Madhuri Dixit passion is one of them. Please comment.

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:19 IST)
Hey Guys! let's ask the great one about himself.... time's running out and we'll still be talking about frivolous stuff and know nothing about Husain : The Man

sandesa (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:20 IST)
I agree with u curious ... let's not waste time

Hedgewar (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:21 IST)
Husain: Do you think you would have painted a Muslim god in the nude? Have you ever done so? Why did you have to paint Saraswati the way you did? Have you no sensitivity for Hindu feelings? What gives you this artistic license?

sandesa (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:21 IST)
Hussain : How would u sum up ur life ?

Rapi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:22 IST)
Mr MFH: what do you think was your greatest achievment in life? (please answer)

Hedgewar (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:23 IST)
What is your relationship with Kumari Madhuri like? I trust it is not sexual.

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:24 IST)
I find it weird that you would rather talk about movies and film actresses than serious work of art. I thought we will get your side of the story on saraswati painting.

sandesa (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:24 IST)
Since MFH is keeping mum, Iamgoing . Ciao Hussain saab n have a long life ...

Hedgewar (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:25 IST)
Are you a practising Muslim? Have you done anything in your life to improve the Hindu-Muslim relationship?

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:25 IST)
I am disappointed in MFH. He is acting like a sixteen year old boy, smitten by young actresses

rags (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:26 IST)
Dear Sandesa, don't lose patience so soon... Stay back.

Rapi (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:26 IST)
Mr MFH don't let these people down, please answer

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:27 IST)
Finally, we are talking about his art!

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:28 IST)
Wow! a whole MFH website! Groovy man Groovy!! Thanks for the wonderful answer to my question We never thought of it like that...I guess that's why you're you!

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:29 IST)
Mr. Hussain, in you answer to Curious you mentioned that you have done a series on various religions, like judiasm, christianity, etc. Have you done any series on islam?

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:32 IST)
Dear jahanaara, you ought to know that he did paintings using Arabic casligraphy, if I'm not mistaken, You ought to know that Gods are not depicted in Islam as human / animal etc form.In Fact there is only ONE Allah!

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:33 IST)
Mr. Hussain, would you please answer my questions?

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:36 IST)
Curious, I know that, but MFH is daring, I thought he might have tried something. Moreover, even Judaism and Christianity do not depict god as human or animal. so that cannot be the reason.

anurag (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:36 IST)
Mr. Husain, i don't know if anyone asked you this question or not but what prompted you to create pictures of indian goddesses in the nude. You're lucky that you're in India and did that to hindu goddesses. Had you been anywhere else in the world and I mean even in the western world and tried to pull a stunt like that about lets say mother mary or someone or tried to depict some holy muslim entity you'd have been shot. I guarantee you that. If you can't respect other people's religion let alone women then you should also be prepared to face consequenses. Now I don't advocate violence against anyone and I believe in freedom of expression but i also believe that there are limits to these freedoms as well. Comments please?

jahanaara (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:38 IST)
mr. Hussain, thanks! Now please tell us about The Saraswati Painting.

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:40 IST)
If I am not mistaken , I think someone else asked, what is the driving force / inspiration that artist's talk about ..some call it the muse... What called on you to leave carpentry and draw pictures?

anurag (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:46 IST)
you don't like to answer tough questions is it. Well then why do you come on a forum like this if you're not willing to stand the heat?

Megh (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:46 IST)
MFH, You talk about pinting saraswatin in the modern way and justify painting it becasue it has been done in the past? Is it not contradictory? How many godesses do you see in the nude today?

Harry (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:48 IST)
Expressions could be varied but the thought and essence remains the despite your class and background isn't thought what makes art didactic. u know better.

Megh (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:48 IST)
MFH, Will you paint your mother in the nude in a very respectfull way?

Megh (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:50 IST)
MFH, Do you worship Saraswati? She is the godess of art and literature as you say, AND you are an Artist!

ckt (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:50 IST)
Hello Mr Husain

anurag (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:50 IST)
megh >> I asked him a smilar question. But this guy refuses to answer any tough questions. Bye suparn what a waste of time

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:52 IST)
Those of you who are titvated about the nude goddess... have you ever been to any Hindu temple of any class? Everyone is nude there...! As for the Europeans getting annoyed ....balderdash!!! MIchelangelo painted even God in the nude that too in the Mother of all churches...The great Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome.. .. And he was commissioned by the Pope! So Harry belt down, will ya?!

rang (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:53 IST)
Hi Fida Ji, Do you think at that particular time when you painted the goddess you thought the Hindus are not going to react. And did you think that you knew that Moslems may retaliate and that is the reason you have never tried to do any Moslem related paintings.

ckt (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:53 IST)
Husaingi, what are you currently doing, i mean your new project, whos potraits you are doing now a days.......

Alps (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:55 IST)
Anurag, please do not sign off. We must ask him the questions. Please understand this is not a forum for his PR. He should take the heat.

Harry (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:57 IST)

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:58 IST)
How does one have to "treat" Art Critics in Bombay? Wine-dine well, and you shall have a good review... or are they really above / below such things?

Alps (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:58 IST)
MFH, will you paint your mother in the nude, very respectfully of course!

rang (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:58 IST)
Alps, If he would have done that, he would have become like Rushdie with a fatwa against him.

Alps (Fri Nov 21 1997 20:59 IST)
MFH, Are you a Muslim?

Alps (Fri Nov 21 1997 21:1 IST)
MFH, Is it true that you thought you could get away with anything as far as what you were deingrating and insulting was hindu?

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 21:1 IST)
Husain Sahab, When should we get to see the next Husain show? Is it going to be a big show or a private one? Will it be at the Pundole's?

Mumbai wala (Fri Nov 21 1997 21:1 IST)
Alps, The most ridiculous question award should go to you !

Alps (Fri Nov 21 1997 21:2 IST)
MFH, What do you think about the Uniform civil code?

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 21:4 IST)
Alps he already said that religion wasn't his thing... so why go on, and on, and on... ad nauseum?

Alps (Fri Nov 21 1997 21:4 IST)
MFH, Hussaini painted you in the nude. Did you like it?

curious (Fri Nov 21 1997 21:5 IST)

Mumbai wala (Fri Nov 21 1997 21:8 IST)
