'We are still in a bull market'

'Until the Sensex cracks 3100 points, I am not unduly worried,' says Ramesh Shrichand Damani.

jedi : Ramesh your take on BEML. I have purchased 5000 shares @ Rs 105. Should I hold or sell? Also, what do you thnk of Tide water oil?
Ramesh S Damani : BEML should have a good year earnings wise. The big trigger is disinvestment for it. I still own it

shalini : Dear Ramesh, since hinduja tmt has fallen frm 400 to 275 and considering your conviction in ITES is Hinduja tmt worth buying now
Ramesh S Damani : Hello everyone thanks for joining. Let's start. TMT is correctinng its abnormal gains. It needs more time to correct. I still own some.

KaifYuvraj : aGRO dUTCH , A PROFITABLE COMPANY IN MUSHROOMS.wHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS CO?
Ramesh S Damani : Good trading punt.

Shobha : Ramesh, The stock market seems to be in a bit of a turmoil. Should one take any interest in buying any other shares besides the ones already recommended by you ?
Ramesh S Damani : One should always look for opportunities. Market is full of them. So keep looking.

abhi : Sir,do you think ITI is also in the divestment list? Also if you could kindly tell me about Rashtriya Chemicals?
Ramesh S Damani : It will get in the disinvestment list. I own Rashtriya Chemicals, but looks well priced in the short-term.

KD : HI RAMESH JIANY VIEW ON KARUR VYSYA
Ramesh S Damani : I continue to hold it and like it. However it has had a good run.

duke : Last week you gave a trading call on tata honeywell.Do you think it has reached its limit ?
Ramesh S Damani : I still own it and like it.

inkit : Dear Mr Damani,I have been watching CNBC since its inception and I have one thing which is very peculiar that sometime they are overdoing things.Recant story of Rolta in perticular & calling up Samir Arora all the way in Hongkong to findout about his arrest story. Is'nt is bit "yellow" journalism?
Ramesh S Damani : Four days for rolta is too much, I agree. Remember this stock is at 4-5 pe. The larger market caps should be investigated more thoroughly.

DEEP : Mr. Damani it is the same logic HTMT has to apply to macmilan stock also??Seems like market is no more interested in the stock??What level you find it very attrectively prised to add more?
Ramesh S Damani : There is a lack of interest. However good companies bounce back. They have an analyst meet on 22nd. Let's see what they say.

BASANTMAHESHWARI : Are you still holding Macmillan. If one were to choose Macmillan and HTMT (at about Rs 265) what would your choice be.
Ramesh S Damani : I would prefer Mcmillan mainly due to the quality of management.

punter : sir, what do u think abt Engineers India Limited and Hughes software as the results are ex[ected tomorrow....mkt buzz seems that EIL will be bid at 500+...what do u say?
Ramesh S Damani : I think 400 is a good price on EIL. Hughes results may be poor. I own a small amount of both.

BASANTMAHESHWARI : Does the fear of the monsoon spell bullishness for the tech and iT enabled stocks as these shares are not affected by Monsoon. The rally should shift back to the digital sector. Your take
Ramesh S Damani : I am not sure over a quarter. However over 1-2 years, it should do well.

KaifYuvraj : Thanks for your reply in Agrodutch. What do you think of today's announcement on BPCL/HPCL disinvestment?
Ramesh S Damani : It should do well. It is a good announcement.

vikas : please analyse MASTEK and GEOMETRIC after their result. Still you are not in favour of buying Mastek
Ramesh S Damani : I believe in Geometric management and business model. Mastek is prone to erractic swings. I still own and prefer Geometric.

baracuda : have yu exited from geometric yu have not analysed the results for us.qrt on qrt np has fallen.no business from powerway.please answer
Ramesh S Damani : No. I am planning to buy more around Rs 380-400 levels.

vikas : Like Macmillan , Max is also not showing strength and very low volume also.
Ramesh S Damani : In a bearish market, it is hard for stocks to move up. Max I visited last week. It will be good for patient investors. I remain bullish on it.

ritu : Ramesh, what would be yr call on rolta at these prices? Don't u think that there was nothing new or investigative fraud abt the company, which the market was not in know of? Afterall, whatever the analysts at CNBC said was already there in the balance sheet of the company!
Ramesh S Damani : Rolta with a market cap of Rs 500 crores is no big deal. If a large cap company falls, it would be a problem.

DEEP : Mr. Damani do you think that we are still in the secular bull market as lot of scripts have started reacting and that too very well???
Ramesh S Damani : The reaction is deep and swift. It worries me also. However it looks to me that the Nasdaq has made a bottom at 1315. Dow has a way to go.

BASANTMAHESHWARI : IMPORTANT. I was reading that ENAM has over 20%+ in IT and T with one of their Directors on the Board. What do you say? Please confirm
Ramesh S Damani : I visisted them too. IT&T has promise but is an immature stock. Just buy a small amount.

smallinvestor : sir pls share ur views on Max after ur visit, what makes u bullish on it. (1st)
Ramesh S Damani : The company has a porfolio of business. Pharma, telecom are mature. IT Enabled is a star. Insurance and Healthcare are losing money. On a sum of the part analysis, the company is cheap. On a PE basis, it is expensive. Take a view over 2 years and you will do well.

ritu : Dear Ramesh, one of my close friends is still invested in rolta! Will u please advice if he shd exit at current price/buy more ? i'll be grateful if u answer this question!
Ramesh S Damani : My sense is that the stock is going to struggle.

sk : Ramesh my portfolio basicaly consists of stocks recommended by you. Still there is no loss ( Macmilan bought around 310/- 500 shares which converted all my profits in losses)but if markets will fall now i will have to pay a huge price - what will u recommend should i sell or hold
Ramesh S Damani : I am very disaapointed with Mcmillan counter. It is testing us. However I remain optimistic on its prospects.

BASANTMAHESHWARI : The problem with the advertisements being telecast by McDowell be bearish for the stocks at least in the short term I don't have it but like your theory SHould I enter into the same at current prices or near about 50
Ramesh S Damani : The company spends Rs 110 crores on advertising. It should save money and prevent another company from launching a national brand. It is to Mcdowells' advantage.

smallinvestor : (8th time) sir a money making recommendation is over due from our guru that is u. pls share with us.
Ramesh S Damani : Market has not been giving us any opportunities. Let's be patient. Our time will come. Nothing which is a great buy at current time.

vikas : your new scrips Tata honeywell , ultramarine , goldiam ---- If i have to buy one which one i should go for
Ramesh S Damani : If one, I would buy Tata Honey.

ROCKRAB : SIR SHALL I CHANGE MY LOGIN NAME TO RITU SO THAT U WILL ATLEAST ANSWERY MY QUESTION?? SIR I EARLIER ASKED U ABOUT d-LINK,NELCO???
Ramesh S Damani : That is unfair. Nelco is doing well and D-link I don't follow. I don't track them actively.

RAMMY : Ramesh S Damani answers, market has not been giving usany ops. LEts be patient. Our timewill come. Nothing which is a greatbuy at current timeIs you answer reflection of the fact as to why the markets have started coming off. Because , no longer there is easy money to be made.
Ramesh S Damani : Clearly not. Market is testing all of us.

jedi : Ramesh, for the fifth time what is your opinion on Tide Water oil?
Ramesh S Damani : No opinion on it. Sorry.

sk : Ramesh are the markes have entered in Bear Phase or still your view is of bull. Pl. advice - very valuable for us
Ramesh S Damani : We are still in a bull market. Until it cracks 3100 points, I am not unduly worried.

3100 : Do you feel that FII's would put money into ITES when they come all out and buy?
Ramesh S Damani : They would have to.

DEEP : Sir you have been very frank in telling what you like and what you own..It seems you have liquidated lot of your position...Should I reduce my exposure in Macdowell, Macmilan, max, Gati,IT&T, Ashok laylnd, ABB ..( I can buy back them if you feel any of it has potential to fall around 15-20% from current level
Ramesh S Damani : It's tough to trade stocks like these. I own a good quantity of all the shares you listed.

RAMMY : sir, over the next one year, every month i want to put money in a stock. But i want to put money in a single stock. i am looking for a 2-3 bagger. can u suggest me a stock or two stocks where i can keep buying at all levels, up or down, for a 2-3-4 bagger over the next 1-2 years.
Ramesh S Damani : I think the risk reward in Mcdowell is the best. It could go down Rs 20 but if things go right, it could go up 3-4 timesin 2 years.

ritu : what is happenning to infotech stocks? i can see a definite recovery in Indian tech sector provided Travel advisory goes away. Just see the employees books of big companies like Infy, wipro and satyam, and they are employing more and more people. Even in the US markets, tech companies are upgrading their future guidance. Pls. tell us yr opinion!
Ramesh S Damani : I think Nasdaq is close to a bottom. If that is true, the outlook for Indian stocks will improve.

inkit : Sir,Please throw light on the quality of management by Bhansalis of Goldiam? Heve you visited them since they are in Mumbai?
Ramesh S Damani : Not visited them. However they are considered to be very honestand good.

DEEP : Sir Do you advise us to buy in current market scene or should wait till next tuesday and chat with you again before taking fresh position as you seems worried about the fall ....In the mean time which scripts you like us to keep an eye on in case there is sudden fall and panic in the market??
Ramesh S Damani : I would buy where I haveconviction. Buy good stocks and let the market go where it will.

arahaman : Ramesh why are u disappointed with Macmillan, when the volume is so less. I think this is the right time to buy Mac. Isn't?
Ramesh S Damani : The stock should rally periodically. It is not doing that and it worries me. However stocks behave like that.

sunil : sir geometric should post an eps of 37 in fy 2003 with 20 pe it should easily quote at around 740 what is your view also what growth rate can be expected 2-0 3 years down the line
Ramesh S Damani : I think 40% CAGR over the next 2-3 yrs. That is what they say. I think they can do better.

RAMMY : sir, thanks for ur reply.mcdowell reduced its dividend last yr to rs.1.5 from rs.2.5. we have been taught that dividend reduction is a signal which mgmt gives to give future direction. do u think, that rs.1.5 could be the lowest dividend at which co. will stop, or they could lower it further.
Ramesh S Damani : Look at the market cap. Not dividend.

sriya : Mr ramesh i bought TVSe at 130 levels.to hedge my loss should i buy equal quantity at the current levels and sell at a point where i am in no loss/gain situation .which means at around 110 levels.or buy some more now and hold.
Ramesh S Damani : Let's wait for Q1 results.

anil : SIR I WANT TO SWITCH FROM HINDUJA TO GATI ,WHAT IS YOUR SUGGESTION
Ramesh S Damani : Not at the current time.

inkit : Sir,SIEMENS' results were announced today. 56% up Q to Q, Any comments?
Ramesh S Damani : I was happy with the results.

sk : Ramensh , do u still feel we are in bull market or market looks more bearish to u - at what levels u feel u will put your sell trigger for satocks u recommended - considering we have entered n bear market
Ramesh S Damani : Big cap PSU and ITES stocks, I am not going to sell easily. I feel if India is to have a future, those stocks will do well.

RAMMY : sir how do u see UB vis-a-vis Mcdowell. Which is a better buy.
Ramesh S Damani : Mc Dowell is cheaper and full of possibilities.

vikas : Will E-SERVE and GEOMETRIC will be your 2 most favorable stock to buy even at this depressed market
Ramesh S Damani : Yes.

baracuda : does your bullishness about ites and bpo stand if the us again goes into recessionconsumer spending in june was not that impressive
Ramesh S Damani : Yes. The logic being they have to save costs.

vikas : big cap PSU - what are the stocks in this category ?
Ramesh S Damani : SBI, Bharat Heavy are doing good.

jedi : You asked, Mr Damani, your take on Punjab communications please. The book value is Rs 125, has strong defence related telecom equipment orders and consistent dividend payer. To be divested shortlyCurrent market price Rs 60.
Ramesh S Damani : I am not so sure. Analysts have been questioning the company's fundamentals.

md : sir,yo said mcdowell could go down rs 20. what could go wrong?
Ramesh S Damani : Poor reults, losses etc. At Rs 30, market cap is Rs 150 crores only though.

vikas : AFTEK INFOSYS , AFTEK INFOSYS -- PLEASE YOUR VIEWS ON THIS STOCK . I AM ASKING ON AFTEK FOR LAST 4 WEEKS
Ramesh S Damani : I am not a fan of the stock as I have said many many times.

DEEP : Sir Do you see Siemens crossing 400 rs. mark in couple of months time on the back of strong result and restructuring
Ramesh S Damani : That would make me happy. Thanks for joining. See you next week. Bye.
