Shree (Fri Dec 5 1997 7:24 IST)
Hello Bardhanji

Shree (Fri Dec 5 1997 7:27 IST)
Nice to see bardhanji on Rediff chat

ravi (Fri Dec 5 1997 7:46 IST)
Hello anyone here ???

Aditi Banerjee (Fri Dec 5 1997 7:52 IST)
Is Mr Bardhan loggin from Delhi?

Aditi Banerjee (Fri Dec 5 1997 7:55 IST)
Do you think an already decadent Congress is heading towards a final wipe-off from Indian politics?

Harish Patel (Fri Dec 5 1997 7:59 IST)
Namaste Mr Bardhan sir what will the curent unrest in the political situation of India lead to?? where are we headed?

Nehru (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:2 IST)
You guys abuse the Congress, yet you have no shame in accepting their support to form a government. Why are Communists so hypocritical? Why could you have not supported a Congress government in the national interest (which you guys always proudly speak of!)?

Aditi Banerjee (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:3 IST)
Thank you for your response sir, but judging by what we have seen so far, it seems highly unlikely that the UF can form the government again. SIr, till the elections, what issues - what agenda is the UF going to have. Have you planned any strategy?

Fred Engels (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:7 IST)
If the United Front comes to power again, who will head it? Will Jyoti Basu take charge? Or are the CPIM comrades still their cowardly selves?

Vinita Sharma (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:8 IST)
Good evening sir: Why is there such a singular lack of dynamic leaders in our country. Barring perhaps an Atal Bihari Vajpayee, there is no political leader in the spectrum who people can look up to, who can instil faith, why does India have no truly national leader today?

Fred Engels (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:14 IST)
India is a country of young people yet run by useless old men. How come every party, incl yours, is allergic to youngsters?

Fred Engels (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:15 IST)
Can you explain the sycophancy of Indians towards white-skinned Sonia Gandhi (for sure if she had been black few would have bothered with her). And of Congress people?

Vladmir Illich Ulyanov (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:17 IST)
Thank you Comrade Bardhan. One must hand it over to the Communists. No one specialises in fertiliser like they do! Can anyone deny that the people of Tamil Nadu had sympathy for the LTTE? Everyone knows that. The truth is you guys were scared that the DMK would join the BJP if you dumped it.

sun (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:27 IST)
Mr Bardhan: Do you think India can survive if brainlessYadav's (LALOO,Mulayam)Rule the country?

H C Minh (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:30 IST)
Just because someone says the BJP is going to win does not mean he is a BJP supporter. Go out into the streets, comrade, and hear what the people are saying. They are fed up of the Congress, they are fed up of the Front and believe the BJP is the only solution. I despikse the BJP's politics, but this is a reality. How can you deny it?

sun (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:35 IST)
Mr Bardhan: You know the Adverse effect of holding By election within short period. Why could'nt you Sacrifice DMK for the sake of country Did you feel Karunidhi is more important than Country.

ravi (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:37 IST)
Mr. Bardhan, My question pertains to alliances in general. Post election alliances are an insult to the people. This essentially violates the people's mandate. Only pre-election alliances should be recognised. Post election alliances breed trading and power brokering and violates the mandate that the people have given. Your opinion Sir?, and in this context will the UF approach the electorate togther for a change

Raghav (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:37 IST)
Mr Brdhan: Is the Congress party Over??? What do you think if Priyanka Gandhi joins the Congress? Is she being groomed to do so?

ravi (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:38 IST)
Stp the political speech spewing for a while and be honest for a change Sir,

ravi (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:38 IST)
Dont IGNORE MY QUESTION SIR, ITS RELEVANT Mr. Bardhan, My question pertains to alliances in general. Post election alliances are an insult to the people. This essentially violates the people's mandate. Only pre-election alliances should be recognised. Post election alliances breed trading and power brokering and violates the mandate that the people have given. Your opinion Sir?, and in this context will the UF approach the electorate togther for a change.

C R Rao (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:40 IST)
Thank you for your response. I want to ask you: This next battle will be fought with the BJP projecting a strong candidate like Mr Vajpayee as its prime ministerial candidate. The Congress has no hope it projects Mr Kesri. But what will the Front do? Will it dare to project Mr Basu as its PM candidate? Then it has a chance!

Josef Vissarovich (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:41 IST)
Good evening, Bardhanbabu. I don't think the Communists were as influential in any administration as it was in this govt. What has been the experience of being part of goverment? Has Mr Gupta and Mr Mishra been satisfied with what they have achieved?

H C Minh (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:43 IST)
I agree with Mr Ravi. Will the UF fight as one entity this time? Or will the same ad hoc association evolve after the results are declared?

ravi (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:46 IST)
Thanks for your response Sir.

V I Ulyanov (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:48 IST)
COMMUNISTS NEVER CHANGE!

V I Ulyanov (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:49 IST)
One last question before I get to work: Honestly, sir, was there a moment during the last when you were worried about parties breaking away from the Front and forming a government with the Congress?

Josef Vissarovich (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:50 IST)
They certainly won brownie points for the way they conducted themselves! So can we expect the CPI at least to be part of the next coalition govt?

ravi (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:54 IST)
Mr Bardhan, Why in your opinion do politicians in general have such a poor standing among people. Be honest Sir , What can be done to change this perception ?

Josef Vissarovich (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:54 IST)
Das Vadnya, Bardhan!

ravikc (Fri Dec 5 1997 8:59 IST)
Mr.Bardhan: If I have my facts right, this lok sabha is the first time that the CPI held office at the center. Has that changed the CPI's outlook? Particularly, considering that you believe that the CPI along with UF will come to power again?

ravikc (Fri Dec 5 1997 9:5 IST)
Mr. Bardhan: In a manner of speaking, do you notice a degradation in the values of today's politician? Do you see that in the communist parties too?

anurag (Fri Dec 5 1997 9:20 IST)
am i too late

anurag (Fri Dec 5 1997 9:21 IST)
suparn, is it over?

Ramesh (Fri Dec 5 1997 9:57 IST)
Mr. Bardhan, who U think will be able to form government ?

Rajju (Fri Dec 5 1997 10:43 IST)
Mr. Bardhan, do you personally believe the DMK to be guilty ?
