Singapore's Changi airport.

While Vienna retains the top spot as the city with the world's best quality of living, according to the Mercer 2012 Quality of Living Survey, Singapore tops list for cities with the best infrastructure.

"Infrastructure in German and Danish cities is among the best in the world, in part due to their first-class airport facilities, international and local connectivity, and a high standard of public services, Slagin Parakatil, Senior Researcher at Mercer said.

Mercer's City Infrastructure Ranking 2012 is based on measures of: Electricity, Water Availability, Telephone, Mail, Public Transportation, Traffic Congestion & Airport Effectiveness.

Take a look at the cities with the best infrastructure...

Singapore (Rank 1)

Singapore ranked the best for infrastructure is the world's fourth leading financial centre and one of the world's top three oil refining centres.

The World Bank has named Singapore as the easiest place in the world to do business and ranks Singapore the world's top logistics hub.

"Competition among municipalities has been continuously increasing in order to attract multinationals, foreigners, expatriates and tourists. Yet a considerable number of Asian cities rank in the bottom quartile, mainly due to high political volatility, poor infrastructure and obsolete public services, Slagin Parakatil said.
