Lenovo, the China based technology and computers major, is set to introduce tablet computers in the Indian market within the next two quarters, Amar Babu, managing director, Lenovo India, said on Friday.

"We will launch the tablet in China this quarter following which it will be launched in India. While determining prices currently would be tough, it would be correct to say that these will be priced comparable to products currently available", Babu said.

Discounting the adverse effect that the tablet could have on the personal computer, Babu said that the netbook segment would in all probability be most threatened with the adoption of tablet computers.

"While pads and tablets can be substitutes to netbooks, I do not see a threat to PCs given the difference in the usage models and frame of reference", he said.

Besides the tablet, Lenovo will launch in the near future a specialty computer called the U1, which is will function as a dual PC and pad.
