Cubit launches all-in-one desktop for Rs 22,000!

With an eye on the rapidly rising market of all-in-one (AIO) computers segment, Ahmedabad-based Cubit Computers has launched the first-of-its-kind assembled all-in-one desktop personal computer for the Indian market.

The company aims to generate Rs 50 crore (Rs 500 million) revenue from the AIO product by 2013.

"Currently, no company offers customised configurations for AIO computers. The market share of AIO computers is expected to grow 300 per cent over the next one year. The growth will come from the users' shift from conventional desktop computer to the all-in-one computer desktop," said Vinay Chopra, director of sales and marketing, Cubit Computers.

The AIO segment of computers come with in-built central processing unit (CPU), containing the hard drive, processor, CD drive and speakers, into the same case as the monitor.

Apple and Dell offer such products, but they are costly compared to conventional PCs.

"We will charge in the range of Rs 22,000 for an entry-level configuration to Rs 55,000 for a state-of-art PC, which is cheaper than any other comparable product available in the market," said Suresh Nair, MD and CEO of the company. He, however, added that Cubit AIO desktop computers would be priced 20-25 per cent higher than the conventional desktop computer.

The product is easy to assemble and can be configured according to the needs of the customers.

"We have over 1000 assemblers, with a network of 100 retailers and 20 distributors who would be marketing the new product in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra and Goa," said Nair.

The company targets to sell over one lakh units in 2012. Currently, the company has a turnover of Rs 30 crore, and it is expected to increase to Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion) by the end of 2013. At present, over 80 per cent of the total revenue of the company come from IT peripherals.

"After a year, AIO will constitute about 50 per cent of the total revenue of the company," said Chopra. The company is also planing to launch a tablet PC by March this year.
