A worker prepares to milk cows on a 40-hectare farm managed by New Zealand dairy export giant Fonterra Co-operative Group in Yutian County, Hebei Province around 150 km (93 miles) southeast of Beijing .

The dairy farm is part of a new international investment strategy by Fonterra, the world's largest dairy cooperative, that involves the building and operating of its own large-scale dairy farms, so it can be certain of the quality of the dairy products it sells.

The investment comes after Fonterra's original NZ$200 million investment in China with state-owned partner Sanlu, that collapsed in 2008 following revelations that its baby formula was fatally contaminated by the chemical compound melamine.

A rescue worker rappels from a coast guard helicopter over empty Italian tanker Gelso M that ran aground on rocks in bad weather on the Sicilian coast, near Siracusa.

The 127-metre-long (415-feet-long) Gelso M was heading for the Sicilian port of Augusta, home of an oil refinery and chemical complex, to take on fuel.

The coastguard said the tanker, listed as an oil/chemical tanker, was not carrying cargo at the time of the accident.

The ship had taken on water in its engine room and plans were being made to move it from the rocks, the coastguard said.
