All the names of M&M's best-sellers, starting with the Scorpio, end with the letter "o" and that partly dictated the change of name for this model from NXR to e2o.

"We wanted something short and simple. e2o stands for energy to oxygen. Besides, every vehicle at Mahindra has to end with an 'o'," explained Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra.

And that's sacrosanct, it seems. "You are not allowed to say 'e-twenty' or 'e-two-zero' but only 'e-two-oooo'," Mahindra added, dragging out the sound the last letter to emphasise his point.
