The D segment crossover SUV is set to be unveiled on September 28, 2011. The interest this SUV has created on social networking sites is something never seen before.

The price of the stunning new Mahindra XUV 500 is something everyone is still debating on. Most guesses point at Rs 15,00,000.

If that proves to be correct, Mahindra XUV 500, pronounced as Mahindra XUV Five Double 'O', will meet head-on with Tata Aria (Rs 15,84,000), Skoda Yeti (Rs 16,72,000), Ford Endeavour (Rs 17,04,000), the very popular MPV Toyota Innova (Rs 13,12,570), all prices being ex-showroom price in Delhi.

Mahindra XUV 500 will be offered in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive options.

Both the variants are expected to be powered by the 2179cc mHawk engine which is also the power machine for the Mahindra Scorpio.

An amazing power of 120 bhp is displayed by the robust CRDi engine that is sufficient enough to boost the mighty machine.

The first transverse engine offering from Mahindra will be capable of producing 290 Nm of maximum torque.
