A few days back, Japanese automaker Nissan officially declared that it is going to introduce the Datsun brand in the Indian auto market, by July 15.

This declaration ceremony was formally held in the Kingdom of Dreams, Delhi NCR where the Renault-Nissan Alliance president, Carlos Ghosn was present.

Nissan has recently set up its manufacturing unit in Chennai, collaborating with Renault. This huge investment by the company, nearly Rs 4,500 crore (Rs 45 billion), seems to be an alarming situation for other brands as this may help the company to get a good foothold in the Indian auto market.

Nissan cars are packages of advanced and high-end features, along with perfectly structured body; the same attributes are expected in Datsun, which will be lined up soon in the market.

The major reason for this company to come up with such an action plan is the economic decline in the US and Europe markets.

Financial crisis is leading almost every automaker to shift focus towards more opportunistic dynamic and emerging economies.

There are many strategic decisions taken to launch Datsun models in countries like India, Russia and South Africa. It can be said that companies are getting ready to increase their pool of customers and dealing with different sets of demands from them.

BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) is the acronym comprising the first letters of the names of the biggest emerging economies where different automakers are finding high growth markets.

Nissan is one such automaker, which feels the nerves of different markets, and responds to the required demand of the particular market in all the above mentioned countries.

The hatchback model is christened as K2, and will have signs of the design and interior bits of the Micra; under the hood, the 1.2 litre petrol mill be fitted.

The K2 will target the A /B hatchback segments of the market. It is speculated that the company may introduce a diesel engine, as they have 1.5-litre K9K engine in their agile.

The company's other models with the same badge will take some time to penetrate the market; albeit hatchback is the focus of the company.
