Hyundai India has launched a new version of EON that has a 1.0-litre engine, according to Autocar India.

IndianAutoBlog spoke to a few dealers and they said that the bookings for the vehicles are on and deliveries would commence in a few weeks.

The more powerful Eon variant comes with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that is available to the European i10.

It produces 65 bhp and 9.7 kgm of torque and is available on the Magna variant which comes with power windows, air conditioner and power steering.

Other features on this variant include engine immobilizer, keyless entry and 13-inch steel wheels.

The variant will not have styling changes. The current Eon is powered by a 814 cc engine that delivers 56 PS and 7.6 kgm.

The existing model were launched in October 2011 in six variants. The development took about four years with 1,000 engineers working on it and the company spent Rs 900 crore.

The Hyundai Eon 1.0-litre Magna has been priced at Rs 385,000 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the metallic paint.

Its chief rivals are the Datsun Go and the Maruti Wagon R.
