A two-motor hybrid drive system, which Honda regards as the first of its kind in the company's history, has been employed to work for Accord Hybrid. The plug-in version will be sharing the machinery of its sibling.

The United States will get to welcome its own version of the Honda Hybrid in mid-2013 that promises a fuel-efficiency of 20 kmpl.

The board has certified the car to be Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle 20 (SULEV20), making it the first car with a gasoline mill to meet this stringent standard.

Receiving this approval is significant as the standard interprets into a 90 per cent decrease in emissions compared to an ordinary automobile. And that too, on an exceedingly rigorous scale of measurement set by the organisation for this certification.

According to reports, Honda plans to tag the Accord Hybrid with a price slightly premium of 3 million yen and aims at selling 10,000 units in the next one year. Achieving this target should be a piece of cake for Honda.
