RCom shares end over 3% up post earnings

Anil AmbaniTrimming some of its early gains, shares of Reliance Communications on Wednesday settled over 3 per cent higher in a weak broader market after reporting a more than six-fold jump in net profit for the quarter ended September 30.

Shares of RCom closed the day at Rs 132.35, up 2.48 per cent from its previous close on the BSE.

During the day, the scrip shot-up by 7.58 per cent to Rs 138.95.

At the NSE, the scrip settled 3.17 per cent higher at Rs 133.30.

In terms of volume, 43.85 lakh (4.38 million) shares of the company changed hands on the BSE, while over one crore shares were traded at the NSE.

Reliance Communications on Tuesday reported a net profit of Rs 675 crore (Rs 6.75 billion) for the three months ended September 30 from Rs 102 crore (Rs 1.02 billion) a year earlier.

Total income rose 6.55 per cent to Rs 5,361 crore (Rs 53.61 billion) compared with Rs 5,031 crore (Rs 50.31 billion) for the same period last year.

In the stock market, the BSE benchmark Sensex ended the day at 20,194.40. down 87.51 points or 0.43 per cent.
