Keeping safety as a priority, the vehicle will have an option of airbags right from the base variant, like all other Maruti vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki has launched Alto 800 facelift from Rs 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

There are minimal changes to its exterior, although not much has been changed on the inside either, writes Faisal Khan, MotorBeam.com.

The exterior updates to the Alto 800 include a longer upper grille, new turn indicators, new headlight cluster and a gaping hexagonal radiator grille, right below the repositioned Suzuki logo.

The revised hood and side profile enhances the design dynamism.

Keeping safety as a priority, the vehicle will have an option of airbags right from the base variant, like all other Maruti vehicles.

It even features a set of restyled tail lamps and wheel caps.

The base trim level will have a passenger side rearview mirror as standard, while an additional storage space at the back and a child-safety lock will be featured in the LXi and VXi trim levels.

There is even a foglamp housing along with a new bumper, which makes the car slightly longer than the outgoing model (from 3395 mm to 3430 mm).

The common changes in the interior include an upholstery update for the seats and a new shade for the interior panels.

Internally-adjustable ORVMs are also available across all models.

The car has been launched in petrol and CNG variants.

Known for its frugality, Maruti claims to have improved fuel efficiency over the earlier petrol version by 9 per cent (from 22.74 km/l to 24.77 km/l).

The CNG variant will return a mileage of 33.44 km per kg (earlier 30.46 km per kg).

For a smoother driving experience, there is an improved high thermal efficiency 796cc gasoline engine (47 PS/69 Nm) mated with a 5-speed manual transmission.
