Jet Airways rolls out online meal booking service

December 23, 2014 16:38 IST

The service allows passengers to book meals 48 hours to 60 days in advance, prior to their departure

FoodPrivate carrier Jet Airways on Tuesday rolled out a new online meal booking service for its first class and premier customers, besides enhancing onboard entertainment services amid a lurking competition from the soon-to-be-launched full service airline Vistara.

The new service ‘Book My Meal’, which is available on all of Jet Airways international flights, offers passengers a wide variety of meal options both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian categories, the airline said.

The service allows passengers to book meals 48 hours to 60 days in advance, prior to their departure, it said.

The Tata-Singapore Airlines joint venture carrier Vistara, which is all set to roll out its flight services in the domestic market from January 9, on Monday announced it will rotate on-board meal options every six days and that passengers can choose from 17 special meals 24 hours prior to departure, besides rolling out other facilities.

"We believe offering the opportunity to make dining choices before the flight will be very popular," Jet Airways senior vice president for commercial, Gaurang Shetty said.

Jet Airways will also screen CinePlay shows produced in Hindi with English subtitles, founded by Subodh Maskara and creatively mentored by Nandita Das, on some of its flights in the coming months, it said, adding these shows are cinematic renditions of vast and content-rich stories from Indian theatre.
