After the success of its small car Brio, Honda is clearing the decks to launch its first compact car-based sedan christened Amaze in India next year.
The all-new sedan, upon launch, will fill up the wide gap between Brio and City sedan where competition already have a presence such as Maruti Suzuki DZire, Toyota Etios, Tata Manza and Indigo eCS and Ford Fiesta to name a few.
"Asian Honda Motor Co today unveiled the name of an all-new entry sedan type model that utilizes the platform of Brio, Honda's strategic model for Asia. The new entry sedan will be called the "AMAZE," and will be launched in Thailand and India", stated Honda Cars India.
The details of the model will be announced later this month in Thailand, and next financial year in India. Honda plans to introduce this model to accommodate the diversifying needs of customers in automobile markets in Asia where competition is intensifying.
The model will be equipped with a petrol engine in Thailand. In India, the Amaze will be available with a petrol engine and a newly-developed diesel engine and will be positioned in the entry level sedan segment for the Indian market.
Honda is expected to price the Amaze attractively as a result of increased competition and higher localisation. "These models will be introduced to the market at affordable prices realized by increasing cost competitiveness through local sourcing and production", Honda further stated.
