HDFC Bank on Thursday reported 31% growth in net profit at Rs 1,429.66 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2011.

The bank had a profit of Rs 1,087.83 crore (Rs 10.87 billion) in the December quarter of 2010-11 fiscal.

Total income of the bank rose to Rs 8,622.64 crore (Rs 86.22 billion) during the October-December quarter, from Rs 6,357.78 crore (Rs 63.57 billion) in the same period a year ago, HDFC Bank [ Get Quote ] said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange [ Images ].

Shares of HDFC Bank Rs 485.50 were up 1.08 per cent on the BSE.
