Tata Motors to launch Zest, Bolt cars this quarter

July 06, 2014 10:51 IST

Automotive major, Tata Motors Limited, is foreseeing a big turnaround in its domestic car sales this year with the launch of compact sedan Zest and hatchback Bolt powered by its Revotron 1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol engines, according to Ashesh Dhar, national sales head (south and east, passenger vehicles business unit).

“The Revotron engines will initially power Zest and Bolt and then drive our new petrol cars portfolio. The engines will be packed in our export models as well. We are trying to launch Revotron-fitted Zest and Bolt before this festive season,” he told mediapersons here on Friday.

The ingeniously-developed Revotron engine, which has already been tested in England and Korea, comes with multi-drive modes - Sport, Eco and City.

The company today commenced its national campaign with Revotron Lab simultaneously in Hyderabad, Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai and Ludhiana.

Stating that the passenger car industry seems to be reviving given the domestic sales of 220,000 units in June and the extension of tax rebates, Dhar said the industry was definitely on a growth path with the market expecting a growth of between seven per cent and 10 per cent this year.

“Our idea is to roll out two car models every year till 2020,” he said, adding the company witnessed growing demand for petrol-powered engines with diesel prices shrinking.

“We do not have strong offerings in the petrol segment. Our Revotron engines will bring in a new change,” he said.
