Mahindra's small SUV likely to be called XUV100

As we had stated several months ago, reports are now coming of the Mahindra XUV100 being the name for S101, the new micro SUV from Mahindra. We had stated it will be either XUV100 or CUV100.

This new micro SUV will be made available with a 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine options and there will also be an AMT (automated manual transmission) option too. Mahindra has just developed these new engines with Ssangyong for their upcoming range of compact SUVs.

The 1.2-litre mills are three-cylinder engines that will have a larger 1.6-litre four-cylinder engines too. The bigger petrol engine will be used by Ssangyong and the diesel one is likely to power the XUV500 hybrid, atleast for exports.

The XUV100 will be launched in trendy colours like yellow and orange and shall have five seats. The XUV100 will be making its way into production soon and should be launched in the market by the end of 2015 or early 2016.

Mahindra will be launching the TUV300 on September 10 and Quanto facelift will be the third compact SUV.
