100,000 Honda Amaze cars in 16 months!

Honda AmazeHonda Cars India Ltd on Friday announced that its compact sedan Amaze has crossed 100,000 sales milestone, 16 months after it was launched in the Indian market.

"Honda Amaze has witnessed great success in the Indian market and the one lakh sales milestone only validates its strong presence," Jnaneswar Sen, HCIL Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, said in a statement.

Honda entered the diesel car segment with the Amaze and it became fastest in HCIL history since its inception in the Indian market to cross the milestone, the company said.

"Amaze has been a game changer in its segment and has enabled HCIL to reach out to a whole new set of customers," Sen said.

Powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine and 1.2-litre petrol engine, the Amaze is priced between Rs 499,000 and Rs 755,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Honda had launched the compact family sedan in April last year.

Honda Cars India Ltd is the wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan's Honda Motor Co.

Honda Amaze is available in 12 variants, including E, EX, S, SX & VX (in manual transmission in petrol and diesel), and S and VX (in automatic transmission in petrol).

The car continues to have a strong sales momentum in the market and has a lot of sales potential with the company's expanding dealership network, the company statement said.

HCIL plans to have a pan-India network of 230 outlets in 150 cities by the end of this calender year from 180 dealerships in 115 cities.

The company has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Tapukara in Alwar district of Rajasthan.

Honda currently sells Brio, Amaze, Mobilio, City and CR-V modes in the local market.
