Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said its net profit surged nearly three fold at Rs 670.23 crore (Rs 6.7 billion) for the second quarter ended September 30, 2013.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 227.45 crore (Rs 2.27 billion) in the corresponding period last fiscal.
Net sales during the quarter under review stood at Rs 10,211.83 crore (Rs 102.11 billion) as against Rs 8,070.11
crore in the same period a year ago, the company said in a statement.
In terms of volumes, sales were up by 19.6 per cent to 2,75,586 units compared 2,30,376 to the year-ago period.
Shares of Maruti Suzuki India on Monday closed at Rs 1,513 apiece in the BSE, up 0.41 per cent from the previous close on the BSE.
