Maruti sales jump 17% in December

Maruti 800Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday reported 17.01 per cent jump in its sales for December 2010 at 99,225 units.

Sales for the same month previous year were at 84,804 units, Maruti Suzuki India said.

The National Capital-based company's figures for the domestic market stood at 89,469 units in last month, a 26.01 per cent increase from 71,000 units in December 2009, it added.

MSI's exports in December 2010, however, fell by 29.32 per cent to 9,756 units from 13,804 units in the year-ago period, the company added.

The sales of the company's once bread-and-butter model M800 also declined by 30.15 per cent to 1,798 units from 2,574 units in December 2009, the statement said.

The A2 segment (comprising Alto, WagonR, Estilo, Swift, A-Star and Ritz) witnessed 23.46 per cent growth at 64,492 units compared to 52,236
units in the same month a year ago.

A3 segment sales (consisting of SX4 and DZiRE) increased by 19.37 per cent to 9,362 units from 7,843 units in the corresponding period a year ago, the company said.

MSI's total passenger car sales rose by 20.75 per cent to 75,652 in December as against 62,653 units in the same month in 2009, it added.

In the nine months of this fiscal, the company's total sales stood at 9,27,665 units compared to 7,30,943 units, up by 26.91 per cent.
