Alliance Air to charge for on-board meals from Saturday

March 21, 2014 18:49 IST

Airline foodAir India subsidiary Alliance Air would start charging for meals on board from Saturday at a price ranging from Rs 40 to Rs 100.

The airline, which operates 24 daily flights including linking Delhi to Port Blair and Bhubaneshwar, would, however, provide free drinking water to all passengers.

Alliance Air would also start a daily non-stop service connecting Port Blair to Delhi from Saturday.

In August last year, the airline had started ‘Buy On Board’ meals on all its flights, except those between Delhi and Port Blair, Guwahati, Surat and Vadodara, like many Indian domestic airlines like IndiGo, SpiceJet and JetKonnect.

Alliance Air, which was started with the purpose of providing connectivity to the northeast and other far-flung areas in the country, has a fleet of four Bombardier CRJ 700s which can seat 74 passengers and six ATR-42 aircraft with a seating capacity of 48.
