BSE Sensitive Index

Sensex gains by 2.35 points

Stocks prices moved in a narrow range in thin trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange due to lack of active participation by foreign institutional investors and leading domestic funds.

There were no market moving factors, thus the market witnessed a dull trend on the source, said a leading BSE broker.

Mirroring the trend, the BSE Sensitive Index opened at 3224.85 touched the day's high of 3750.25, declined to the day's low of 3723.40 and remained stagnant at the day's low till close, showing a slight gain of 2.35 points over the previous close of 3721.05 points.

The broadbased BSE-100 Index gained by 0.95 points to 1608.40 points as against the previous close of 1607.45 points.

The BSE-200 and Dollex Indices finished at 361.88 and 164.52 points as against the previous close of 361.82 and 164.77 points respectively.

A rumour floating around in the market said the rupee was to be devalued by about 5 per cent. However, there was no official confirmation on the same.
