Email this report to a friend

Sunil Arora, joint secretary in the civil aviation ministry, will be chairman and managing director of Indian Airlines as an interim arrangement, taking charge from Anil Baijal who completed his tenure today.

An official release said Arora, a 1980 batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, will hold this charge in addition to his own duties till a regular appointment is made.

Baijal, who had a one-and-a-half year tenure at Indian Airlines, is going on a two-month leave before joining the Home Ministry.

Following the announcement that Baijal's tenure would be over on May 26, the Public Enterprises Selection Board had for the first time in the history of Indian Airlines advertised for filling up the vacancy of chairman and managing director.

Till now the coveted position has been held by joint secretaries.
